Others Air venturi alpha

An Air Venturi Alpha has arrived in the HAM offices too - while I was out of town. I'll be getting to it in the next few days.

Personally, I like small, compact, relatively low powered PCPs like this. Other examples are the Notos and the Air Venturi Microstrike. My feeling is that they offer a lot of value for a relatively low price and could appeal to a lot of shooters.

I like them too, but they just tend to lack the needed juice for what I use them for. I enjoy them for nice warm days sitting and plinking, but grabbing one to deal with a fat, chicken stealing raccoon or even a coyote, not so much.

So, how's the Alpha? And, how is the attached suppressor? Is it like a Beeman Chief 2 version? Attached, and still loud as a nail gun?
The glued on moderator is about my only complaint with it. Been working on a video using it, guessing it could be removed with heat.

Hard to complain for $269 gun that checks most of the boxes.

I have suffered with glued poorly performing moderators on the Umarex Notos and Gamo Urban.
Enough is enough!

I am not buying a single airgun with a glued moderator.
So AIr Venturi can keep their Alpha.

May be a bit more but Wes at Airgunarcheryfun has them directly from snowpeak and I believe will work with what you want. Looking forward to a Max 1 25 cal soon. I'm paying the tariff 🙄 but I like small business.

For those concerned about the moderator it appears that at least one is removable based on a comment in the review section of PA

Christopher- The silencer is threaded and will unscrew. Mine was very tight and I had to put pliers to it, but there wasn't any glue or Loctite on the threads. If you put tools to it to loosen it, protect the carbon fiber shroud and only grab the black aluminum with your pliers. You might put several wraps of masking tape around the parts that the pliers teeth will grab to protect it. I put a DonnyFl Ronin on it and it is doing a fine job.

For those that don't want to mess around with the moderator, I offer a slip on moderator that really brings down the sound. I also added a picatinny rail on mine as I like to shoot off of a bipod. I offer different accessories for the Air Venturi Alpha. If you want to upgrade your Alpha check out www.bravo3d.com

I removed mine in a few moments with no damage. I actually put it back on, as it actually works good enough for me. Mine was held on with plenty of red thread locker.

I also removed mine, and yes, they have a lot of red Loctite on there. I bought an extension 1/2x20 and put a different moderator on, and I can open it to access the fill port with no issues!

ALPHA had her chance to begin official yard duties with a pair of doves looking to settle in, i had a magazine of JSB's loaded, and i put the new red-dot on one of them, and took the shot, and only one flew away. Next a big pigeon broached the perimeter, and he was still there when i got my ALPHA out and loaded. He was a big target and i put the dot on him and fired quickly, not using any more time than i needed to line him up. This time i saw feathers fly, and he lifted off for only a short distance. The ALPHA is shooting two out of two in the yard, in the Hualapai's Arizona.

Has anyone done any chrono work on the standard or compact yet? I'd be curious what both run, and the standard with light slugs.
Earlier today I installed the Maple Customs hammer spring tuning kit.
No real difference in power or shot count with all the washers installed. These results are from the 15.89 JSB Hades starting at a full 250 bar fill. The shots fall off the reg at about 150 bar.

Factory hammer spring - 13 shots, 842 avg fps, 25 fpe
Hammer tuning kit (all washers installed) - 14 shots, 842 avg fps, 25 fpe

I'm sure that removing some of the washers would add a few more regulated shots but probably lower the fps a little. This kit will be a good option should I ever want to detune the gun a bit.

Here is my Chrono results shooting JSB Hades 15.89 pellets.kept the gun topped with air as I was dropping off at 17 shots on my Alpha. The accuracy at 25 yards was really good too

I wonder if the reg pressure is the reason why you and I are having slight shot count and fpe variations? Do you have the fps info for shots #16-18?
James, I tested several different pellets on Sunday and found that the Hades shot the best. At the point that I did that chrono on the Hades, I was finding the speed to drop off around the 17 shots, so I just topped up at 15 shots. I will be out this weekend and will track shooting two mags with the Hades and let you know what I come up with.
I am going to clean the barrel again before going shooting on Sunday, and if I have time, I will polish the barrel
