Panthera FX Panthera/Dynamic Solid Bull Barrel Received

I was not able to install the Bull Barrel. I cannot remove the the threaded plenum to Shroud adapter from the plenum to allow me to replace it with the copper colored (imagine that) adapter that comes with the barrel. I’m not sure what they did to thread lock it, but I can’t break it free. Maybe I’m just too mechanically inept.
I’d say the rumors are correct and to me it shows they said “good enough, let’s send them out anyway”. But, that’s just conjecture on my part. Yes, Fear OF Missing Out on the new product bit me in the butt. This rifle is very accurate box stock or with the 1:40 pellet liner. They are fragile compared to my other guns. The threads on the Bull Barrel are atrocious. Thanks for sharing the “rumor”. Unfortunately the way they’ve handled this issue is not a great way to protect their brand.

I know its too late to play with before the cup id order that stock part from ua or fx and take it off with a pipe wrench you’d ruin it but you would get it off.

So the problem is you can’t really get a hold of it without destroying it?
I think it is possibly a strong thread locker that isn’t softening. But, who wants to keep applying heat to an aluminum part that is both painted/blued and provides a seal. I’d hate to warp it. I tried several different ways such as two Allen keys and a crossbar to turn it.

When i took the air tube off the drs i could not get it to move. I have a chain whip (basically a pair of vicegrips with like a motorcycle chain attached to 1 side and a hook to grab the chain on the other) used that and gave it a goot bump with my hand and it loosened right up didn’t mar the tube either. Id like i said order 1 and put a pipe wrench to the exposed threads and give the wrench a good shot from your hand or a mallet

This part, it the coupler for the plenum and the shroud. It also seals the plenum to the barrel.
I feel bad , before this all happened, we discussed plenum volume, I was trying to lead you about the larger planum being a possibility. I don't like posting sometimes for it causes problem, for statements written. So that being said did you get the larger plenum with your kit. If not I would call the Dealer about the upgrade if that is even a possibility. you know FX will probably do the larger plenum for more revenue after the fact, this reason alone makes me Dis-like FX . This is their M O. Buy the Acessories to make money. No one is forcing us to buy their products, but we get HOOKED LOL. We can try & stick together to be better then them, If that sounds right Sometimes we have to really think things through & through. If it wasn't for wind .44 grain will do just fine, even .22 look back when the CROWN took First Place a couple of years ago. Dusty Powers Kudos to the Thomas for taking First Place, makes FX really think about what they are doing wrong LOL & The Thomas was clearly out numbered by FX & other Brands. Back to marketing for FX LOL . Don't DO IT Just say NO. If you saw what it took to make the 3 riflesI sent out to be made perfect you would $%#@ yourself from an expert machinest, & fabricater. All rifles have FLAWS including yours truly FX PS I think the Barrels from FX were from GERMANY

No, it didn’t come with a different plenum. Keep posting, I love the discussions. I’m responsible for my own decisions and my misses lol. That’s what they should have done: included the larger plenum with the coupler attached. Keep in mind if they enlarge the volume, they can only do that by increasing the diameter or length if the plenum. If they do that, it will require a new shroud.

Hold on to your Hat, you are going to get BLOWN away when I tell you THIS. Do you recall hearing about the LIMITED EDITION PANTHERA @ RMAC ? Well that will have an EXTENED PLENUM on it !!!!!!!!! Like I say TRUTH BE TOLD.. M@%$ I can barely TYPE HOLY MOLY This is starting to get out of Control

After seeing all this I wonder if I should even get the BULL BARREL, OR avoid the whole rifle All together. I just wanted to shoot the 40 grains in .22 cal I keep telling myself DON't FALL DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE
The regular 1 in 16" 700mm Superior Heavy liner shoots 40gr slugs accurately already, and the whole gun ends up being heavy enough as it is.

Thats the thing though. My stock barrel prefered 218 slugs the barrel i got with the solid barrel prefers 217-2175 slugs and shoots more slugs more accurately than the original. Its still a barrel lottery, granted they are closer than many machined barrels but if you try a few you might find a really good 1

@ what Speed, & how high on the reg. & your definition of acurate is what. Everyone's defination is different , I personally expect extreme accuracy, but then again I also have high expectations, but that s me. I own air rifles that are true performers, they are what I call boringly accurate. Why settle for less I don't usually shoot for groups, I shoot a hole on paper & I try to put the next projectile through that impact, That is my defination of accurate. Hole in hole. @t this point I'm tired of waiting for something that is to good to be true, my opinion of course, March 26 to date, without Panthera .n .22 cal, 700 mm no BULL BARREL, no plenum extesion in sight, or the near future. @ this time better it maybe the tell tale sign of not to go through with the ownership of the Panthera, which has not been replaced from FX , with a leak that could not be repaired & get something of better value & not a song & dance from FX, . I will keep you all posted on my final decision, but ,I refuse to let FX make a FOOL of myself

Not to be a wise ass but my definition of accurate is I hit what I shoot at and I've shot enough to know when that is. I don't shoot paper, that's my definition of boring. My FX was shooting paint can after paint can at 240y pretty damned easily from a tripod with me standing. My 42gr AM slugs had a spread of 0 for the whole mag and my speed was 958fps. I did shoot some paper later on and found out the AM 40.1gr slugs are just a little more accurate than the 42gr. All the H&N .218 shoot well. This gun, for all of it's design issues, is the highest performer I have seen, and as good as anything that I've read about. I'm sure that I will have problems with it, I don't like how FX builds their guns but they are accurate. I would not recommend them to anyone that did not love working on their own gun, that's for sure, because if you push it, you will be. They are certainly not everyone's cup of tea, but you should know yourself well enough to know if they are for you. There is certainly plenty of warnings in every thread, and I even advised Bill not to get one because he had what I believed to be much better made guns on his list. FX will shoot as well as any of them, or better, on any given day but they are not even in the running for the best built gun at all. Here's where I'm supposed to say "just my opinion," but it's more than just that.

Yes you did. It’s been a good journey, with bumps and all.
I'm glad you feel that way. I was just trying to spare you some aggravation, because I could definately tell there would be some. When they are working correctly though, it really does make up for it, it's what I always imagined for an accurate shooting airgun. I do wish that they were made like an AAA though.

You spoke the truth, & that is what Ipersonaly like, as well as your true honest opinion, well said. I also own & AAA .357 & trust me the build quality is spot on definately not a FRAIL RIFLE like some of or most others On another note for ,22 40 grain what rifle & Definately not FX no limit on $
