Is most of this lead build-up from the Halo slugs? Or just shooting in general?I ran patches with Ballistic, dry patches. Brass brush with Ballistic, rinse repeat. I still had lead in choke area to the crown. I did a light polish with Flitz, ballistic, rinse repeat. Still had lead at the crown. Manually cleaned the last inch of the barrel with some Ballistic and did the rinse, repeat again. Still had what looked like lead on the edge of the crown. As I stated the edge of the crown looks rough, but is probably exaggerated under the scope. Lightly polished with some JB, wash, rinse, repeat with Ballistic and dry patches. There is still some of there lol. Before and after first cleaning.

Looks ok. You need to remember that things need to wear in a bit. And you were shooting quite a few slugs. I was just looking at the drs barrel after shooting a bit and when it starts throwing flyers again will probably hit it again with polish. Don’t forget to write down good tunes so you can quickly go back if you wantHere is the bore after 17 shots with the Halo 46gr .30 slugs. The winds are right to left at 18mph. So it's tough. I made some changes. I lowered the reg a little and made some big changes to the Micro hammer setting.
the slugs are hitting direct on elevation wise and are one mil to the left at 100 yards. The barrel is not indexed and so it doesn't mean much. But, considering the adjustments and the wind it looks good. Bore shots below after 17 shots between 940-965fps. It actually looks a little dirtier when looking through the bore scope live.View attachment 20691View attachment 20692View attachment 20693View attachment 20694View attachment 20695View attachment 20696View attachment 20697
Man if that happened in a FX barrel I'd hate to see what a L.W. 12 land & groove barrel would look like after shooting the Halos!I'm probably a 100+ patches in and still have a tiny bit of lead near the crown. I'd say that the barrel is the issue with the lead near the crown. Through the bore scope it looks like the liner was cut off with a hacksaw lol. Quite a bit of lead inside the shroud.View attachment 20681
I just read your other post. You, the gun and the slugs did well.I got out tonight and shot 3 different slugs, NSA 49.5, Air Impulse 44.5, and the new FX Halo 46 grain slugs,
I was pleasantly surprised on how well the Impulse and the Halos shot tonight, the halos did shot better though. I was running them all on the same reg setting and only adjusted the PW up on the NSA slugs.
160 bar, PW was 15 on the Air Impulse and Halos, and 20 on the NSA's. when I started shooting there was very little wind. the last group of the night with the Halos you will see the bottom right target the slugs went left but still held an ok group, think I need to clean the barrel, I did shoot some pellets while working on getting the tune setup, I only shot 1) 5 shot group with the NSA's. still have some fine tuning to get the SD number down but I was happy with how the slugs punch holes and how well they grouped overall.
Thank you, Billm, Yes I was really happy how I shot tonight, its truly a toss up on the Halos and the air impulse slugs, just need to dial in the tune a little better!!I just read your other post. You, the gun and the slugs did well.
