At my private range again doing some more testing with the Daystate Delta Wolf .177 HP with the longer prototype barrel ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽฏ๐Ÿ™‚

I have added the prototype barrel, which also fits my BRK Ghost .177 HP, so therefore no chrono in this barrel - Does not matter in the Delta Wolf as I use the custom setup ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ™‚๐ŸŽฏ

Awesome shooting Soren. 75m is a long way for the 10.3 grain pellets, the prototype barrel is clearly performing well- so is the shooter!

The prototype barrel is performing very well ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ™‚๐ŸŽฏ And the shooter had one of his better days ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ‘

Will give the different pellets around 13 gn a go as well ๐Ÿ‘ Will probably have better performance at 75 and 100 yards ๐ŸŽฏ๐Ÿ™‚

@Soren Drost,

Can you share any details regarding the prototype barrel (length, twist, rifling etc)?

Understand if you're obligated to keep mum on the details until Daystate/BRK are ready to release... just curious.

It is a longer 28โ€ barrel and that is all I can tell at the moment, since we are still testing and tweaking in all calibers ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ™‚

The extra length of the prototype barrel did add 60-70 FPS to my existing setups for the original barrel and it likes to shoot especially slugs at higher velocities (960 to 1025 FPS) ๐Ÿ‘

With pellets, you can turn down the regulator quite a bit to get down to the velocity needed and thereby get a better shot count and a very steady and smooth shot cycle ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks Soren!

No problem and not much technical info, sorry ๐Ÿ™ƒ

But this barrel is looking VERY good so far ! ๐ŸŽฏ๐Ÿ˜Ž
By the looks of those targets, I would agree!!

No worries on the technical info, suspected as much & don't blame them for not wanting to give competitors a heads up on R&D work.

Heck, while I love Daystate rifles, they're famously stingy with technical info even for their commercially available products! Still fuzzy on the details of my .22 RW HP barrel... going to slug it for twist rate when I need to remove for deep cleaning to satisfy my curiosity. Having too much fun with it right now though :)

Always fun and nice with some little optimization projects ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ™‚๐ŸŽฏ

Your .22 HP barrel should be polygonal and maybe 1:17 twist ??!? ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™‚

Soren, will you be coming to EBR this year? I'm not sure anyone has ever shot a .177 at the EBR Main Event. I did see a well known shooter bring a .177 to a 100 yard event a few years back, and he discovered what it was like bringing a knife to a gun fight. ;)

I am not going to EBR this year ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™‚ .177 in that desert wind would be quite a challenge for sure and would also include a ton of luck ! ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿคฃ

Thanks for saving me the trouble ๐Ÿ˜„

My guess wasn't far off- thought that the HP were all polygonal, & knew 1:17 was typically the twist of choice for .177 & .22; just wasn't sure if that applied to the HP barrels.

That is the barrel that I have in my Red Wolf .177 HP and it shoots the JSB KO 13.43 gn and also ZAN 13 gn very well out to 150 M or 164 Y (y) ๐Ÿค“๐ŸŽฏ
