Avenger Update on .22 Avenger Build

Last edited:
Damn Bud, the whole world is going to hell. Pyrimid Air used to be such a great company. They are located just outside Cleveland, OH. Im from just north of Columbus, so i really liked supporting a local business. But what they done to you and a couple of other people has me wondering. Chasing the money and screwing the customer seems to be the chinese buisness model and sadly damn near ALL US companies are following suit. Sad. But back to the tubes. I cant beleive they would use some sort of sealant, thats INSANE. Heat gun should work to remove them. Be interesting to see the threads. You'll know instantly if they used some sort of sealant. Let us know the skinny when you do. Still a damn shame about PA. I usually buy refurb avenengers because they are cheap and by modding them i void warranty anyways. Wayne Reid has been such a great help to me. And ANYTHING you send to him will be fixed right and no longer an issue. With these cheap chinese rifles, its nice to have a great machinist available. Ive paid Wayne alot of money...ALOT of money lol but have never regretted one dime. He makes these chinese guns work like they should, something PA cant do because of warranty and wont do because its not cost effective. They make us fix their product and we fall for it. Lol. Im the cheif sinner. I have $2300 in a gen 1 .22 avenger. Now before you think im an idiot, i have a buddy in my town with a Daystate Alpha Wolf .22 he has over $4k in. We shoot regularly at my familys farm. That Daystate is frking AMAZING, but my avenger shoots circles around it and he is soooo pissed..lol i get 74.1 fpe where 66fpe is all he can go. Better groups at all distances from 25yds to 150yds. So there is something to be said of taking these avengers to the next level with someone like Wayne. I have an avenger that i filled to 4000psi 6 months ago and hasnt dropped 1 psi sitting 6 months not being touched. None of my avengers giive me any problems. If you work through the faults of these guns, they are quite amazing. Im the type of guy that would rather show up with my ava and make those shooting FX, RTI, Daystate, etc... take notice. They bought theirs, I built mine. But thats just me. Im a tinkerer. Lol. Anyways, sorry you have to deal with this BS, but you will get sorted out, just goona be a pain in the ass. Let us know your results Bud and good luck.
I know it sucks the way they treated me I think. Degassed the rifle, removed the factory crap synthetic stock, used the heat gun and warmed it up good without melting any orings, wrapped a small rubber strap wrench from Harbor Freight and had to apply excessive force and the tube finally unspun from the nut that was still installed super tight. Then I could get a proper wrench on the nut to remove also with excessive force. I replaced this small air tube with another long one I got from Dana at Terminator Outdoors as he has them sitting around from doing carbon fiber bottle mods. There was no thread locker on the threads but it was like they have a special tool or impact to really get them tightened way past hand tight. What a pain so far! Then installed my Buckrail tactical hand guard and a triple barrel band to hold all three tubes in place. Reinstalled Donnyfl half by twenty moderator adapter and installed moderator. Then reinstalled Saber Tactical picatinny mounts and mounted scope again, and installed Doux Tech 11cc plenum. Cocked it and filled to 4300 psi and let it set for 2 days and it didn't budge and the reg is working correctly now she's a laser again and I get 56 shots using JSB 25.39 pellets and if I do my part it stacks each of the mags in a dime size group on my small backyard 30 yard range! It's shooting over the chrony at 905 fps and it's working well. I tried to back off the hammer spring and it's at its lowest setting already and I set the reg to 2000 psi. So I'm going to leave it like it is since it's shooting so well. Oh, I also installed the barrel harmonic dampeners in the shroud, I left out that step, lol. I'm like you I like to upgrade my rifles and enjoy them so I have more invested in mine as well. If it breaks again, I'll just send it to Wayne to repair as I've voided any warranty again and I sure don't want to send it to Air Venturi for any repairs! I ordered another triple tube barrel band and will install it to really stop any torque or twisting from happening as well. That's where I'm at with it now. Take care man!

That's some pretty good numbers, nicely done! What no pic?! 🤭 For a reference my BRK 👻 does 975fps on 480cc 250 bar fill for alittle over 50 shots a fill so not bad at all! Do you know you total tank size (in cc) by chance?

My air tube is just another of the exact same long one with the fill nipple. So 140cc x 2 is 280cc so that is it's size. I have the other parts to stiffen up the air tube assemblies coming from Dana at Terminator Outdoors and they will be here by the first of next week. I'll post the pics when she's totally finished. I'm very happy with the way it's shooting now and on occasion I still get the rare flyer like every 25 shots or so. They say you can cut a shim out of a plastic milk jug and insert it under the magazine and that will stop this according to some YouTube videos. I think I might degass it and try to set the reg at 1900 to get the fps down to 875 or so but it's shooting so well I hate to mess up a good thing! Lol. Wish I had a Ghost, this is as close as it gets for me for now. Look for the pics soon! Happy shooting man.

Alright man, here's some pics of her as she stands now. I have also upgraded the regulator to the stainless steel version as well. Was shooting at 922 fps and the groups were not as tight so adjusted hammer spring down to 877 fps and the groups tightened right up. Air Arms Diabolo 25 grains shot most consistently and JSB Exact 25 cal were right there as well. Regulator is set at 2000 psi. This is truly the way an Avenger should shoot! Have shot over 500 rounds through it and it still continues to impress me.

One hole groups nice, got her shooting really good! 25 yards?

Yea, she's shooting really well at 30 yards. Wish my property was bigger so I could stretch it out more. Each bullseye is the entire clip as well, not just five shots so she's really consistent!
Oh I hear ya their! I can do about 50 yards max at home, past that is to sketchy, so it off to my parents for long range, thankfully they are 2 mins down the road. The .177 springers are perfect for my backyard. That's mega consistent, and it's looking good.

I have settled on owning 2 pcps for this reason myself! one with 30 and one with 55 fpe, they are the pesters! So it broke, you tried to fix it, and because of that they couldn't warranty it? It's kinda understandable from their point of view I guess, ultimately if my pcps are shooting good I sure won't be taking them apart but I would try to fix them myself if needed 100%. Hope it's good for you now!
Ran about 150 25.49 JSB pellets through it today target shooting at 30 yards and it's shooting incredibly well at 877 fps. So I wanted to get back to you and let you know she's still shooting great!

Yea, my son is grown with his own family now, so we dont get many chances to do this anymore. Great fun for sure and thats what its all about. I got those barrel bands from AESWEDE. Some of the best 3d printed stuff available. Aaron does a great job. I have many of his items on all my airguns. Very nice quality.
Got Aaron's Avenger trigger upgrade today and man what a difference it makes on squeezing the trigger for the shot. Have it adjusted to crisply break at just 12 ounces for target work and absolutely love it. One of the best upgrades I have installed in this rifle, I can't recommend it enough!

I can't believe, with all the time that I have spent on HAM, that I am just reading about your Avenger! WTF? I wonder what else I have missed? Great work! I totally get where you are coming from. I have spent crazy money and time on a P15. It is just a more fun road to drive.
It's still working well after the trip to the factory. Just a lemon that needed multiple repairs to make it right. The only thing that really bothers me is they refused to repair under warranty on a three month old rifle as I had converted it with BuckRail stock AR conversion kit. If they ever figure out you have changed even the stock it's warranty is voided. At least it still shoots like a dream!
