It’s only a couple of days since product availability was announced, but an Umarex Zelos PCP air rifle has just arrived here at the HAM offices for review. Let’s take a look… My first immediate observation is that the Zelos feels light and compact to handle. The 36-Inch overall length is clearly a big benefit here. The second is that the high-capacity (20 rounds in .22 caliber) is very well integrated into the design. There’s no major projection from the action on either side, so left-handers will like this. However the pellets do tend to rattle in the magazine somewhat when the gun is moved around. The mid-range PCP market is exploding at Pyramyd! Now two versions of the Macavity Arms Agility MA2 air rifle have joined the action at the world’s largest airgun dealer. The manufacturer has announced that the new Umarex Zelos PCP air rifle is now shipping. Today we’re taking a first look at the KalibrGun Snipe 2 PCP air rifle. HAM readers first saw this model in our report from the 2024 IWA OutdoorClassics show in Germany. Now a sample gun has arrived at the HAM offices from the manufacturer in the Czech Republic and we can start to see what it offers. In fact, the Snipe is available in a multitude of different versions. The gun we have here is a Snipe 2 (rendered as the Roman II on the gun) in .22 caliber. This differs from the original Snipe in a number of respects. One is the provision of a sidelever action. This is instead of the “slide lever” action fitted to the first model. A new introduction at Airguns of Arizona is the BSA Challenger target pistol. This is a single-stroke pneumatic airgun that’s intended for entry-level competition, target practice and plinking. The single stroke pneumatic action means that the Challenger requires no additional equipment – such as CO2 cartridges or HPA tanks and compressors – to shoot. It also means that there’s no perceptible recoil. The Challenger is not meant to be a powerhouse. Realistic Muzzle Velocity figures are in the 350-360 FPS range with 7.0 Grain wadcutters. Two new Daystate Performance models have been announced. They are the Alpha Wolf Performance and Delta Wolf Performance. Both Daystate Performance models incorporate a new ultra-fast flow valve. This enables the Muzzle Energy to be the highest of any Alpha Wolf or Delta Wolf version yet. The “HP” versions gain a power bump to a maximum of 120 Ft/Lbs in .30 caliber. In .25 cal, it’s up to 86 Ft/Lbs. .22 caliber guns can achieve up to 82 Ft/Lbs and the peak power is now up to 39 ft/Lbs in .177 caliber. Oops! I just found a HW100 Picatinny Rail Adapter with the HW100 Sporter Carbine. But wait, there’s more – a biathlon-style cocking lever as well!!! So what happened? Well, I was packing-up the Weihrauch HW100 Sporter Carbine to return to Airguns of Arizona after our latest test review. While doing so, I found what I had taken to be a piece of packaging in the box but had previously ignored. That was really dumb of me! VALUE FOR MONEY At a current price of $1,442.99, the Weihrauch HW100 Sporter Carbine is not a cheap air rifle. However… When HAM tested the HW100 back in April 2017, the price was $1,099 (and it had been near $1,500 before, due to currency fluctuations). If we take that $1,099 price and factor-in inflation since 2017, the value would be $1,408 in July 2024. So – allowing for inflation – the HW100 is pretty-well the same value today as it was in 2017. Now there’s a new FX Impact M4 and it’s coming soon. In fact, it’s coming in regular and “Compact” models and in a choice of black and copper finishes.
