This is a premature review - I'll need to get some use out of it before I can say if it's any good, but I just bought a basic 3-9x40 AO Mil-Dot "Fox Spook" scope direct from CV Life via Amazon for roughly $35 shipped. I'm pretty impressed and I wanted to pass the word since there are likely to be tempting holiday sales before I get any real shot count on the scope.
All the adjustments feel great (even the ocular focus, which had zero play when extended), and the turrets are simple but click firmly & finger adjustable.
The glass is bright and clear with very little image curvature at the edges. It focuses crisply down to 5 yards or less at 3x. The mil dots have 7 increments in every direction from center not just 5, and if correct at 9X the mil spacing will then equate to 4" @ 100 yards at 8.2X. Meaning it can handle up to 28" of drop when shooting at 100, which works for most of the springers I own. Looks to be a wire reticle. Really doesn't weigh too much either, and reminds me a lot of the Hawke Vantage for a lot less money, but with a shorter warranty. Comes with your choice of rings too.
I don't know if they claim them to be springer worthy, but I have an earlier version of the scope that seems to be of lesser build quality yet has been fine on a few medium powered springers, and it came to me on a used springer. It's certainly seen some use.
The new one really struck me as having benefitted from some deliberate product refinement over the years. If anyone is looking for a cheap AO scope that may well hold up on modest springers, you might want to roll the dice on one of these. I can't promise, but I took the chance myself because others have had good luck. I'll probably mount it on that light BSA springer to see how it does.
Really, the only thing goofy about it is the name....
