250Z New Scope for the Barra

Last edited:
Agree with @Pumacarl .... skip that used tank!! Waste of time & money, put it towards the GX compressor and a decent little moisture filter for it.
My only concern is....have you shot it yet or cleaned the barrel before tearing into it? 🧐
Thanks for mentioning the cleaning. On every new FA I've owned, I have taken them apart and polished the parts and lubricated where appropriate. I will clean and bore scope this barrel, but probably not any further until I become more familiar with the technology. Also, I have not shot it yet and won't until I solve my charging method. I did dry fire it twice when testing out the suppressor though. There will be some skills that transfer from FA's to pcp, but my approach is to assume I know nothing and it has served me well so far!! You guys are the best!

My advice would be to skip buying the tank that can only be filled to 3K, complete waste of time and cash. If you don't want to get your own bigger compressor or carbon fiber bottle yet, get the small GX-E-CS2 compressor for $300, or for an extra $100 the GX-E-L3 compressor to just straight fill your gun, to start with. I know that it is hard to fathom at first, but if you love shooting airguns you don't want to be wasting your money or your time chasing air. It is all part of the sport. Once you have your air supply down, and a chronograph, a laser range finder, and a ballistics app, and you know how to use them, then you are going to want to get or improve on a whole lot of things.
Maybe the best advice. I have a CS2 clone compressor for my 105 cylinder on the HW100 and it's like 90 seconds and got me in the game! The price point on the GX-E-L3 is good, but reluctant BC of the batteries. At that price, is there something else you would consider now? Many thanks!

I would listen to the other guys here, that own them, and they say that the original GX-E-CS2 is a good gun filler and I would get that if I was inclined to get a gun filler, if I didn't want the battery version.

Utah has the FX Archery Chronograph for $50. Works perfectly well for air rifles. Phone app stores all your strings and settings.

I have 5 of the cheapo Chinese chrony (all different mount rods) and have not used one since I bought the FX
Damn, I wish that I had paid more attention to that unit before now, I would have picked it up during free shipping. Where does it end though? I think I have at least 3 of the little ones and they work great, but they don't go to my phone either.

5 of the rod mount talking chrony
1 of the rod mount non talking Chrony
1 cheapo Chinese Bluetooth shoot through
1 Caldwell Chrony
1 Shooting Chrony Beta
1 Shooting Chrony Alpha
1 FX Archery Chrony

Caldwell will connect via audio cable to the phone. Shooting Chrony provide gibberish. The cheapo can screenshot the data on my phone.

Only the FX is easily useable.

Someone on Airgun Nation was being critical of the FX Archery Chrony. He said faster fps 1100-1300 does not show up, amongst his other comments? I'll stick to mine.

I measured 1060fps the other day.
But above 1100FPS is supersonic and not advisable.

Wouldn't someone want to know if their air rifles were shooting at supersonic speeds so they can slow down the fps? What if you also use your chrony for powder burners? I personally want my equipment to span the entire spectrum of shooting sport velocities.

And that is the downfall of the FX chrono. I also use mine for firearms (prochrono DLX) once in a blue mood and it connects to my phone nicely....but sheesh if the weather/lighting ain't just right its useless....is there even a perfect chrono?🤔😂
Accurate, affordable (no Garmin im not paying $800 just to read my velocities), doesnt attach to my barrel (sorry @NateChrony ), works in any weather id be shooting in (Prochrono not-so-pro) and doesn't annoy me so much that I contemplate shooting it on purpose....OK rant over😊

It's a great starter compressor by price point. Now you can buy more ammo!
So I took everyone's advice and just upgraded to a larger compressor. It sits in my shop and not really interested in portability as my shooting is out the back door. Apparently one cannot exist in this life with only five compressors; this will make #6. LOL! Thanks for all the help.

Reminds me of shooting a break barrel that was dieseling at first. It clocked 1250 fps for the first few shots and settled in at 950 if memory serves me. I read about velocities just under 1k fps being sub-sonic, but I always thought the speed of sound was 760 fps at sea level depending on environmental conditions. I see all sorts of numbers these days.

1,126 fps or 768 mph at sea level.
