I have a 22 also i have it running at 1350 on the reg shooting 18 jsb ‘s . Its pushing them at 890 fps and im getting 140 shots a fill. SD4 with ES 10 ,1/2 in at 50 yrds . All for 830$

It’s good bang for the buck imo. @BenjeneerJohn did a great job. That’s some good numbers. I’ll have to dig up the stats from my 250z and see how they compare.

Overnight the reg crept up to 1800psi. It could be that the Florida heat even at 7am was a little too much for stable pressure. I tried Norma pellets at 78yds. I don’t think this barrel is going to like them. Even though they’re lighter they produced the same velocity as the slightly heavier AEAs. But, I’ll give them another shot at 50yds. Not that it really matters if they are discontinued.

I’m growing to really like shooting “Free Recoil”. It’s difficult to shoot free recoil with the G3 in its stock state as it’s more of a traditional sporter stock. For Free Recoil it needs a wide flat forearm and rear bag rider that is parallel to the forearm and bore line. That stops rolling/cant in the rests and allows the rifle to glide straight back.
I’m thinking of taking one of three routes:
1. 3d printed benchrest stock (think Thomas).
2. Custom chassis and the normal benchrest add-ons.
3. Custom flat forearm add-on and rear bag rider. Quickest and easiest and requires no mods.

I’m assuming so. I’m not sure if there’s a parts breakdown for it. But it can’t be too hard.

I have never been a fan of leaving anything in the shooting process completely out of my control, even for a second. I am not a benchrest guy either, I keep myself connected to the gun for all of it. Even using my tripod, if it were to suddenly blink out of existence, my gun wouldn't hit the dirt. To each their own, just make something cool Bill, I find your work fascinating!

There’s nothing wrong with the stock. But for Free Recoil the rifle forearm and rear need to be square and parallel to bore. If they’re not, the muzzle will be off axis as it recoils and with the dwell time of an airgun, that won’t be good.

I’ve been out shooting the G3 again. A couple of observations:
1. The first shots of the day were within a couple FPS of the set velocity. I have two BRKs and the FX, all of them have a distinct velocity drop on the first 2-3 shots after a fill. I would think thus would be important for that rifle used for pesting etc..
2. After sitting all night in 67f air conditioned conditions and then taking it out and shooting in 116f heat index, it shot the first 13 shots with an SD of 2.5.
I don’t think it is even fully tuned yet.

I shot the second mag at an EBR practice target at 50yds. It would be a better group, if it wasn’t for 3 minor flyers
. The flyers all correlated to changes in velocity as shown on the Chrono. I believe the flyers were due to not sorting the pellets. There was a 2-5mph wind that was flipping from right to left, to left to right that I did not attempt to correct for.

I challenged Elaine to a 14 shot (1 mag) shoot off and she beat me. Then she tells me that she is going to need her own electronic rest. This should be interesting, she told me at the PAC that I should work on making my rests look better.

I polished the barrel. This may be the first barrel that I’ve polished, that it doesn’t appear to have helped the groups. Of course I’ve been all over the place with settings trying to find what works best. I finally tried some JTS 21.53gr pellets. They seem to be very accurate around 890-920fps. I set the reg to about 1800psi, but it keeps creeping to 2000psi. It’s set for 97% tune right now. I haven’t been able to get it where there aren’t 10-20fps swings. It, I also haven’t sorted any pellets. The head size on the JTS seems to be larger and the rifle likes them. It wasn’t shooting tight enough groups consistently when shooting the 50yd BR targets (my opinion). But, now it has tightened back up.

I have had the same thing happen to me twice now. I set for around 1800 and it ends up at 2000. The next time I gas it back up I'm going to check if the pressure reads 2000, or if it reads 1800 and then creeps up. Hopefully, it won't start at 2000 and creep to 2200.

I think your velocity swings have to do with the plenum size. It has to be something like that. You should try shooting a magazine as fast as you possibly can, and then try shooting another at an exact interval, like 30 seconds, and see what the spreads are, and do it with a full fill, and a low fill. That's what I would try.

I made a few changes and actually cut down the flyers and reduced the SD to as low as 2.5 and 3.9. It’s shooting really nice now. I actually shot a 42 shot string, but took the last 14 shots (off to the right) out of the calculation, because I shot the last 14 at a separate aim point as fast as I could. The first 28 shots were shot at the center of the target. I had a crosswind and did not correct for it. On the first 28 shots I allowed about 15-20 seconds for it to refresh. All shot at 50yds. Then I took two shots at the smallest KYL gong at 50yds.

I was thinking of making a folding chassis for it. But, maybe I’ll leave it alone LOL.
