250Z LW Barrels from Barra

They are easy to clean and don't deform the projectile as much as traditional rifling. Mine seems to be doing just fine so far

Where is @Billm on this thread? Hey Bill, I know you're going to read this eventually, did Barra send you one of these? After your history of dealing with them you should have been at the top of their list. I kind of lost track on where you ended up, but this seems like the perfect solution.

Hey there, JSB Knock outs 25-grain slugs, reg psi at 2300, Element Helix 6-24×50 ffp, buck rail modular stock, slug power kit, 1.2 turns out from flush on hammer spring, very light trigger, Donny FL yokozuna moderator, CV life bipod on arcade rail, c88 plenum, ergo grips with palm shelf, and rear adjustable mono pod, LW polygonal 1:16 twist barrel. 0.263 center to center at 50 yards

Hey Twitch, did ya happen to weigh the two barrels? Would like to know how many ounces will be added to the rifle with the new LW barrel???

.25 caliber origional 14.4 oz. .25 caliber LW is 21.4 oz. Just put it in, tomorrow im running it on 32 francos and zeroing in at 50. Im going to ease it up slightly, and go for 2k-1900 on the regulator and shoosh it a little more by aiming for around 910-912 fps.

WOW! Nearly 1/2MOA average 5-shot groups at 50yds with slugs! Sign me up for an LW, 250z barrel!

Triple-P, thanks for weighing the barrels.

I'm not happy about the LW barrel adding an additional 1/2lb to the weight of the rifle. I carry my 250z in the field on hunting trips. I would prefer not to add any more weight to the rifle.

Wonder why Barra had these LW barrels made an additional 2mm larger diameter than the 'stock' barrels?

I don't believe Barra ordered them to that spec. Most guns would need a thicker walled barrel. LW had excess stock of the polygonal and they were machined to fit. If LW is still sitting on more, Barra may be able to get another batch for sale.

LW blanks cost as much or more than what Barra was charging.

That makes the most sense.

I suppose lathe turning the barrel blanks full-length to match the diameter of the stock 250z barrel would introduce unwanted stresses to the steel itelf.

Probably changes the harmonics a great deal too
