Yeah typically climbing reg pressure means the hammer spring is only partially opening the valve.
If I were op I’d drop reg down to about 100-110 bar and start from there.
If you add just the bass weight from the slug power kit to the stock spring it will open the full power envelope of the gun and will make it more efficient.
With that set up I never ran the reg less than about 2600/2700psi and no higher than 3200psi. I wouldn’t recommend more than 3000psi...
Absolutely not. I’ve never equated high velocity with accuracy. The math also shows that at least in terms of wind deflection 850fps is probably the golden zone for subsonic projectiles.
I shoot them fast for power down range/expansion. Oh and cuz I love the sound they make when they hit…. But...
I’m with you. Got my EQ sold and shipped off but forgot to order more slugs for the DRS so I’m looking a Labor Day weekend with less than 100 slugs in hand 😂😂😂
I don’t doubt you… I think the 250z was the most fun gun I’ve had to shoot until this DRS, now they are tied for 1st place. Which goes to show you how good the 250z really is.
Oh yeah that’ll do it! I use a deburring tool. With the last one I did I actually used an 8mm carbide that I tapered up and on the lathe I lightly polished with that. Then piece of 2000grit sand paper by hand. Finally a felt polishing wheel on the dremel and a little bit of diamond paste. Very...
Not really. I’m making the air tube out of a higher grade aluminum than FX does. Also l’m a machinist as my day job. I don’t do Airgun stuff in the shop I work at because there’s never a machine open, ever… But basically the tolerances required for 250Bar are nothing special.
Plus right now it...
Huma is on the right and FX on the left.. not a whole lot of difference but the slots on the Fx one are a little bit more narrow than the Huma.
Without the pin probe it expect a 10-20fps boost without changing any settings… if you add the pin probe at the same time it’s more like 25-40fps...
Doesn’t sound like a slug barrel is the issue… the whole rest of the gun seems to be falling apart…
I bought a 28” LW unchoked poly barrel last year and machined it to fit my Karma EQ.. it popped right in and was instantly better. The LW are very forgiving and out of about 15 different slugs...
I think I underestimated the stock power levels on this gun.
I wasn’t paying attention last night and accidentally some 60gr Javelin slugs instead of the 52gr. With a couple clicks of the hammer spring they will do 910fps… and while it was only 30 yards they were hitting the same spot every...
Just a highlight reel from yesterday.
Pro tip: For bigger critters the hex slugs over-expand if you shoot them too fast. Unless you’re shooting pest birds I recommend keeping them between 880-920fps.
Final shot is moving up to a 52gr patriot javelin and I liked it much better.
The Hex slug...
Oh that’s really good to know! My main draw was the extra 30bar of top end but it sounds like there’s some serious drawbacks to that.
Also the more I test the gun the more I’m convinced the extra 10cc of plenum between the stock and SHP plenum is significant. I think my gun would probably top...
I think you’re probably right… I also should have said it’s not a complaint. The reg is rock solid so I have no complaints.
Eventually I will put in the Huma reg but I’m not in a rush.
101 FPE
Okay so after playing with the 93-ish FPE settings for the last couple of weeks I decided to push the reg up to 155bar from 140bar.
I found that the 13gram HS weight wasn’t really able to push the 50gr Franco’s above 925-930fps but the shot count was absolute trash. Right around...
