I think you made my point. If you enjoy working on it all the time and don’t mind spending money buying parts which can become hard to find and expensive and warranties that aren’t honored then maybe a hobby unit is for you. I went thru all that and finally bought an Alkin just before the COVID...
Small compressors and boosters are fine if you are filling guns and very small tanks but when you start using them to fill large tanks they are not going to last long and any money you thought you were going to save will be lost to repairs and replacement. And don’t believe advertisers who say...
An Altros is very slow and hard on a compressor but what bothered me the most was when mine had a catastrophic failure during the warranty period and they refused to fix it. They sent me a few small parts that didn’t fix it and refused to allow me to send it back to them for repair. Save your...
I vote you spend the money and get an Alkin. In the long run you will save money. I went thru the cheap compressor and booster route. Could have saved a lot of money and grief if I got the Alkin first. And you can always fill tanks for other shooters or divers to pay the compressor off faster.
If you’re filing tanks the compressors like the Omega are going to need frequent rebuilds. A compressor like the Alkin will probably last you a lifetime with only filter and oil changes. Not to mention how much faster the Alkin will fill bottles. The Alkin may cost more in the beginning but it...
I tested a lot of slugs in my rifles in .25 and .30 and found pellets much more accurate. But this is before they started making dedicated barrels for slugs. As far as accuracy they should be able to make barrels that will match pellet accuracy but I doubt barrels that are advertised for both...
I shoot a lot of calibers in Airgun, center fire and rimfire. I think the real place for Airguns .177 to .30 is with pellets. A 22lr can exceed what a .30 with slugs can do. What I love about pellets is I don’t worry about the pellet going long distances if I miss. Pellets really start shedding...
Caught a lot of negative comments from people when I told them not to waste their money on boosters and cheap compressors like I did. When I bought an Alkin it was the smartest decision I made. If you are going to stay in this hobby a compressor like the Alkin is a must. And the Alkin...
