Marauder Designing A Stock for the Marauder Gen 3

I’m starting to design a stock for the Marauder Gen 3. I’m trying to decide whether to do a dedicated benchrest stock similar to a Thomas etc., or do a chassis style with a 1913 removable stock, so that it could be a benchrest or a lighter folding stock.

I’m printing my test inletting now. Hopefully I got the measurements right.

It took a few attempts to make up for my poor measuring. But, the inletting is done. I need to move the stock screw hole forward 1-2mm and add more relief for the safety. This is not the chassis. Now, I’ll figure out how far forward to take the forearm and Arca rail and whether or not to wrap it around the plenum. Once I figure that out, I can design the actual chassis. No, it won’t be Cyan.

Thanks Tony. You probably wouldn’t be as amazed, if you saw how many end up in the trash before I get it right LOL. I haven’t given up on the chassis for the Sonoran/sniper. I sent it back to AOA, I’m pretty sure the linkage/pellet probe has failed. When I get it back, hopefully I’ll get it finished.

The drop-down for the bottle is getting in the way LOL. I couldn’t be bothered spending the time to model an actual air bottle. I just needed something so that I could get the clearance right. I’m trying to keep it simple. I’m tempted to not run the Arca rail under the bottle, or maybe keep the bottom of the forearm level all the back to the trigger guard, instead of stepping down at the bottle.

I’ve made a few changes. I’m trying to keep it short. I’ve added M-Lok slots on the bottom and sides. I’ve designed it to take standard AR-15 pistol grips and it can either use mil-spec buffer tube stocks or 1913 folding or lightweight stocks. I’ll probably redesign the march style stock that I originally made for the 250z. It should knock some weight off it. I’m not sure why I’m do it, other than for the challenge. I don’t see myself carrying anything around lol. I still need to add access to the hammer adjustment and some aesthetics.

We've had a lot of rain annd storms and so I got a little more done. I've actually made one for fitting etc..

No one ever gets it right the first time around. I think once it's done you will get lots of complements.

I reduced the weight of the stock by 1lb 14ozs . I put a Magpul MOE grip on it. I’ll post photos today. It’s still just a prototype.

I’m still working on it. I don’t have a two slot M-Lok Arca rail and so I had to use an M-Lok Pic rail and a Pic to Arca adapter and that added some unnecessary weight. I designed it to use either two 2 slot M-Lok Arca rails, one in front of and one behind the fill port or two pic rails. I’m still working on a skeleton chassis style Butt stock, like I did for the Barra 250z. But here it is with a push button folding stock. All up weight for the rifle and the pic to Arca adapter is 6lb 8.5oz. It could definitely use a carbon bottle in this configuration. I need to make a few changes and add a fixed butt stock. I’m still tempted to either design a dedicated benchrest stock or just add a bag rider to the original stock. It’s setup to take either AR-15 mil-spec buffer tube stocks or 1913 stocks. Just another fun project.

Thanks. I just weighed it again on different scales. I don’t think it’s that light. It’s more like 7lb 6oz. That sounds more like it. If I really wanted to lighten it though, I’d follow your lead and put a smaller CF bottle on it.
