So Ive got the vortex on the bench. Just ordered some 3/4" risers to be able to clear the magazine. This should put the scope height at approx 66mm, which I don't think is too terrible?

Thanks John. I agree that the spikes are troubling. I can only assume that there is a regulator issue. I do not have a lot of confidence as to the quality of the chinese equipent i purchased, and I am not willing to throw more dollars at a platform that cannot really perform much better...
