Marauder G3, The Things I Do For Fun

It looks good. Your hard work sure pays off.

A tip for future projects where you want to create a lightweight, easily sandable
/shapeable epoxy contour. Go on Amazon and buy a small bottle of micro balloons. They’re microscopic glass spheres that are mixed with epoxy to make a strong but lightweight , gap filling and easy to contour mixture. It’s used to create lightweight contours and fillets etc., Think of the smooth aerodynamic contours where the wing meets the fuselage. It cuts the weight of epoxy drastically. I would think you could use small amount with epoxy putty as well. It’s so light that a pint bottle feels empty.
You know what? The next time I plan to do something, I'm going to talk to you, first. That would have been good to know. I will check that out, thanks!

WOW! I just checked that stuff out. I will definately be using that at some point. I'm surprised I've never heard of that stuff before. You are a wealth of information Bill!
Another tip, if you have small gaps that need to be filled, including nicks in carbon, pour micro balloons into the hole or gap and drip CA glue into it. It’ll give you an easy to sand finish. You mix micro balloons into epoxy, but you pour/drop Ca glue onto micro balloons.

I was reading about using CA and baking powder today and almost did it. I just got a dozen little CA tubes today too. It's crazy to get a big bottle when it always goes bad. I'm just buying one use tubes now. I didn't know if the CA was compatible on top of JBWeld, so I didn't do it.

My experience of using baking soda with CA glue was not very positive. I remember it leaving a messy film. Make sure it’s baking soda and not baking powder.

I've used micro balloons and epoxy to fill large holes in flyrod cork handles. If ya take an old t-shirt stretched over your finger that is wet with lacquer thinner and catch the epoxy before it completely sets-up you can remove/smooth the excess to match the surface you are working on. Micro balloons are good for lot's of applications.

It was more of a rhetorical question, but, ...yup! The color won't be too wild, but at least there will be some color. I don't really like all black guns and I thought that this gun would look a lot better with highlighting some parts and subduing others. I'm not going to rough up the surface before painting, so whatever I do, it probably won't last.

While I'm waiting for the humidity to drop a little, so I can paint, I was thinking that I have to get another moderator for this gun. The Tanto .30 is too loud. Having tried many on my 250Z and finding that the tiny 0dB 110c, in the same caliber, and not sized up, was the best solution, I am leaning towards a same caliber solution again. I get no clipping on the Barra and I'm not even threaded directly on the barrel, like I will be with the G3. My STO Levitas only weighed just over 2 ounces, but it didn't hold up either, and it was a high flow model rated for up to .30. I think STO's Pugio is kinda homely, so it won't be a STO this time, all their other mods are too big. I am really trying to keep the size down, there are plenty of huge models out now but finding one that works that isn't the size of a Pringles can is still trial and error. The new Heartland one seems to be a good all around compromise to try but I haven't seen a review of it shooting a +60fpe .25 either. My IA1350 stays on my FX but I might just have to bite the bullet and get another, it's a good unit that handles power easily, it's just pricey. I'd like to see a head to head of it against the new DonnyFL, since I'd be spending big anyway.

I really like my Heartland 'Mini Mod' suppressor. It's on a 34fpe .22 and really 'snuffs' the report! The 'Mini Mod' is a .22 model threaded directly to the muzzle of the barrel (no shroud).

No idea how Heartland will function on a higher fpe rifle, but I would try one if I had a higher power rifle to try one on.

Whatever I get as next rifle will get another Heartland.

I put a mini on my pathfinder and it works well but on the drs too loud. Have a 110c on both the drs’s slightly on the loud side but better than anything else i have and that includes the next size up from the mini
