Others Quality Scope and Mount Brands

I have a large number of Leupold scopes on my firearms, everything from VX-1's up to VX-5HD's.

I seek input on quality scopes, and scope mounts, understanding that "best" is always a matter of opinion.

I am not price conscious (within reason), but I am willing to pay extra for quality in both scopes and mounts.

They must be rated for springers.

Any input is appreciated.

Let me start by saying that I only have one springer and am primarily a pcp guy but I have had the best luck with Sportsmatch rings. Tried a set years ago and since then they are the only mounts that I have used. I have about six sets of them, some adjustable, some dovetail and some picatinny. I also use an inch pound torque wrench on all the mount screws. Some people may see them as pricey but I think the quality is worth it.

Yes I've noticed Sportsmatch mounts seem to have a good reputation.

On my firearms I primarily used Warne Tactical rings and bases, and like you I always torqued to specs.

My last set i got ..lol. i think they were trying for a combo 30mm/ 1". Mount.

Front ring 30mm rear 1" . Pretty sad

Just to add .. it's funny i end up using package scope mounts . They fit guns the scope fits stright and there pretty solid ,they work New branded like above .. dust collector .

On my wish list would be- Leupold would come out with a line of scopes rated for springers, parallax corrected to say 25 yards, perhaps even parallax adjustable.

Lightweight, relative low powered variable or fixed 2.5x or 4x20 would work well, and a length say 9", something compact.

ALSO, while I'm wishing, it would include the CDS-ZL feature, that I have on many of my centerline rifles. I'm of the opinion that feature is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Give'em the BC, weight and velocity, and the sight-in range, they make you a custom dial, and you would be able to make accurate shots out to as far as you cared to shoot.

I am still figuring out what scope is best for me, with so many manufacturers and options out there now this can really make the brain hurt. As far as mounts though I will always recommend the Eaglevision line of mounts , I also have had great luck with the UTG Pro mounts as well and run those on my Evol Mini.

It's very likely I'll go with the UTG Pro. They offer a low height ring.

The 1 thing i hate about eagle vision with the slanted top cap is they always pull the scope to the slant. Makes it difficult to get right

I like the athlon argos gen 2 scopes have 4 of them seem to work well for ft. Have a helos gen2 6-24x56 on way will report back if its much better than the argos after i get some time with it.

For mounts, BLK have a good reputation, made in US.

If not made from " high grade Chinese aircraft aluminum". I just move on ..lol.

I dont put much faith in that made in wherever... well i do if it says made in china.. like made in isa could just mean took out of bulk loaded shipping container from china and put in a retail box with made in america printed on it .. usa all the way..lol. dont dupe yourself..

Thats where not being lazy and doing your due diligence to see where a product comes from is worth while, all it takes is a phone call and a couple questions.

Yup, theyll tell you just what you want to hear.. you pretty much got to go and see to believe with your own eyes in real life .. lol..
