The Benjamin Pioneer Airbow was launched in 2016 as a revolutionary big-game hunting product. Now a new Benjamin M600 is on its way, the first major upgrade to the Airbow platform since its introduction. The Benjamin M600 Airbow is scheduled to launch in the Third Quarter of 2023. The new Western Bush Pig Carbine is the latest introduction from Western Airguns. Based on the action of the familiar Bush Buck, the new model brings a more compact form factor to the platform. Like the Bush Buck, the Bush Pig is a .45 caliber, single shot, bolt action air rifle. Airgun barrel cleaning – do you need to do it? That’s a question that appears every so often among airgunners. And yet the answer seems to vary with the gun and pellets in use. Certainly, HAM Contributor Matt Coulter found airgun barrel cleaning to be extremely important in his recent story on shooting slugs in his Cricket 2 Tactical (which has a Lothar Walther barrel). In this case, he found an average improvement (reduction) in group size to be no less than 74%. My personal experience is that I’ve never found that much improvement in accuracy when shooting conventional lead pellets. But then, I’ve never tried to make a specific test on that subject. In December 2022, FX Airguns launched a new dedicated, slug shooting competition gun, the Panthera. Now there’s a new version, the FX Panthera Hunter. And this one’s a pellet-shooter! The FX Panthera Hunter joins the growing number of compact PCPs that are intended for hunting. Compared to the “Competition” Panthera, it’s more compact, with a shorter barrel.
