Thanks for publishing all this data @hameditor . I find it interesting to read what equipment others used. Did you ever gather and post similar data from PAC?
Yeah that wind was brutal on the second cards. How far was your drift on card 2? I was aiming at the 6 ring at 9:00 on the left side of the left target to hit the 10 ring on the adjacent right target. Easily 6”-8” of L to R drift on my 50 grain 30’s. This was my first and only 100Y match.
I own a .30 and not a .22 but I clean mine with a PatchWorm and straw. Initially I had difficulty finding the correct straw but the red milkshake straw from Arby’s is perfect for the .30. I would suggest removing the carbon shroud and trying several straw sizes until you find the right one. I...
Nice group Luis. Next time you are ordering pellets try a tin of the JTS18 pellets. I shot them today for the first time and they shot more accurately than the JSB, Air Arms or CPHPs in my Atomic. I was pleasantly surprised.
@hameditor , It was good to see you there roaming around with your camera. Wish I had a chance to meet you but it wasn’t meant to be. Perhaps next year.
I dunno but I hope they do.
My hats off to the entire crew at Pyramid Air. They worked their butts off and don’t get enough credit for all the behind the scene work that made this event flow smoothly. I would guess they are all pretty well spent and deserve a few days off with pay after what...
Thanks Smitty. The gun certainly is capable of shooting well but the true success comes down to the person behind the trigger and how well they can read the wind to make the necessary hold offs. That is where shooting over wind flags pays the highest dividends.
2nd place fellow was shooting A very very very long looking 30 cal Panthera. Those things look like howitzers. I didn’t see many Pantheras shooting either.
I thought it odd that The Red Panda required air every mag or two. It had two bottles on it. It was a LOUD rifle. Much louder than the...
Thanks Mike. I didn’t see all the final scores but I think I had a 190-ish? The guy next to me got 2nd. I think he had a 234 and Thane Simmons won with maybe a 235?
@Centercut is right. My bad. Derrick did a trigger job. The match is over and I might have a solid last place finish but won’t know the results until tonight. No excuses. I just didn’t shoot well and made a lot of missed 4”-6” R-L wind calls. For some reason I shoot better in L-R winds? Wind was...
Thank you all for the kind comments. I hope I can do the Ghost justice today.
We had predominantly L to R winds yesterday and I just checked the forecast and the winds have switched to R-L today, arrrggghhh. Just another warm welcome to Ohio's ever changing weather.
Thanks. I practiced diligently for several weeks prior and tried 44 & 50 JSBs and 56 Zans. There was no question that this barrel preferred the 50s even though I spent a lot of time tuning the 44 and 56 pellets. Reg is now set at ~140 bar, HS on 11 = 880 FPS and then I bumped it up to 12 during...
Yep, my bone stock Ghost 30 just qualified for the finals tomorrow. I’m just a Joe average shooter and this is my first 100Y match I’ve ever shot. It was a fun day today and I’m looking forward to tomorrow.
It was a pleasure meeting you today Neil and thank you for taking the time to talk to me about your AAA rifle. You are a true gentleman and a great brand ambassador. Just wished I would have had the clarity of mind to meet you yesterday and hurl a few 56’s down range. Good luck tomorrow.
