Notos Umarex Notos Refill Pumping Problem/Question

Hi All,

I've had my Umarex Notos for about 2 1/2 weeks and really like it as my first PCP. I have a question concerning the pumping to get it back to around 3000 PSI using an Air Venturi G9 hand pump (taking breaks to make sure pump stays cool). But first, here's the rundown:

First pump: got it up to 3000 fair well (had no previous knowledge of how well it should go). I cocked the lever as per suggestions of making sure the reservoir would fill correctly. Shot until Notos was at about 1000 PSI -- basically still in the green on the Noto's gauge.

Second pump: tried to re-fill back from 1000 PSI but could only get to around 2000 PSI +/- on the gauges. I figured why not just try to just shoot. Shot until Notos was back down to about 1000 PSI.

Third pump: tried to refill and the gauges wouldn't go above about 1000 PSI. Degassed the pump. Tried again. Same result. Did this two more times. I felt like the pump/Notos was stopping at a pressure "wall". Frustrated, I then degassed the Notos. Refilled back up to 3000 just fine. Shot until the Notos was just above 1000 PSI.

Fourth pump: tried to refill and only gets to around 2000 PSI. I can tell when this happens now. It feels like the hand pump is hitting a pressure "wall". I degassed the Notos and it refilled to 3000 PSI just fine.

It just occurred to me today that the Notos' regulator is set to 1900 PSI, which is about where I can't get past on a refill from 1000 PSI.

I'm not sure where to go from here. I don't want to degas the Notos each time to refill to 3000 PSI (and doesn't seem like I should have to).

Any ideas on what to do or where to go from here?

Thanks,

Scott

Does that hand pump have a gauge on it? Does it match what the gauge on the Notos is reading?

My starting guess is something with the hand pump.

I’ve hand pumped a lot, I own three had 5 in total. had something like what you’re describing occur with my UX origin and it’s accompanying hand pump I rebuilt the pump, problem went away.

Might not be the same issue though 👍.
Thanks for the information on the pump issue. I see a rebuild in my future.

So, schedule finally let me look into the pump today ... none of the o-rings looked bad and didn't look like a re-build was in order.

But the parts were definitely dirty. My son and I cleaned it all up and have successfully pumped the Notos up from the 1000 PSI mark, twice. It feels much better overall.

Was the pump no longer under warranty?
The pump is/was brand new, too. So, yes it was under warranty. And technically still under the 60 day return window.

I found other Air Venturi G9 users online who mentioned having to clean and/or rebuild to get the pumps working correctly. I guess that is an issue with Chinese made pumps.

And honestly, my son and I like to tinker and so seeing how the pump disassembles and re-assembles was already on our to-do list.
