Umarex has announced another new airgun. It’s the NitroJavelin PCP arrow gun. Basically, it takes the NitroAir PCP cartridge and matches it with the existing AirJavelin concept.
The result is a PCP-powered arrow gun with no need for additional charging equipment like tanks, pumps or compressors.
There’s no photographs available yet, but the basics are clear. The existing AirJavelin uses 88 Gram CO2 cartridges for propulsion.
As we know from HAM’s exploration of the Umarex Komplete, 88/90 Gram CO2s can be used on a NitroAir PCP gun. So it was clearly a logical step to develop the NitroJavelin PCP arrow gun.

In today’s Press Release, Brad Webb, Vice President of Sales at Umarex USA (and a great guy, by the way), explained the business logic…
“The launch of the Komplete and NitroAir solved the biggest problem most retailers face with stocking PCP airguns – the air filling solution. By providing retailers with a PCP-style rifle that is ready-to-shoot without a high-pressure hand pump or compressor was epic. Retailers love selling this product as much as consumers love shooting it.”
“Now the convenience of NitroAir comes to arrow guns with the introduction of the NitroJavelin,” he concluded.
Sure, this is a corporate message aimed at SHOT Show attendees. However I certainly agree that the “one box plus follow-up consumable sales” approach offered by the Komplete and AirJavelin is a great way to increase the numbers of retail outlets selling PCP airguns to an increasing group of new customers.
The key to the story has to be in the headline of Umarex’s Press Release: “NitroAir makes airgunning easy”. That’s a powerful message for newcomers and it has to be good news for all of us who love airgunning if it brings newcomers to our hobby!

The NitroJavelin joins the AirJavelin and AirJavelin Pro in the Umarex arrow gun lineup.
Specifications for the NitroJavelin PCP arrow gun are a little thin right now. But we know that it uses NitroAir PCP cartridges and is regulated to 1,500 PSI. Initial indications are that one NitroAir cartridge provides about three full power hunting shots.
There’s more to follow…
