We held another monthly match at Phoenix Rod and Gun Club this past Saturday. The Valley of the Sun is heating up for just the end of February. Highs were in the low 90s. Winds were probably less than 6mph, but couldn't decided what direction it wanted to go. Full bright, sun shiney day. It was toasty.
We had 11 shooters attend, contesting 4 different classes. This is the (nearly) all-inclusive format that allows anything from 20-100fpe, pellets to slugs to rimfire. The four classes represented at this match were: Long Range Pellet (less than 100fpe), Rimfire (subsonic), Full Monty (less than 50fpe), and Long Range Slug (less than 100fpe). The fpe range was from 19fpe on the low end, to most of 100fpe on the high end.
And this is how we all fared...
Kinda cool to see a couple of the newish RTI Moras in there. We also had a few .20s, one of which was shot by my son and I. Our attendance was a bit last minute, and we didn't really have a high power gun prepped. AND he wanted to use the .20 Veteran that he normally used for sub 20 fpe AAFTA matches. Over the last few years shooting together, we've figured out it's much more convenient to share a gun, so that's what we did. At one point we were just going to shoot near and middle, but we decided to shoot the Full Monty and throw some hail Mary's at the longest targets. It was a hoot and we really enjoyed ourselves.
I believe we had a few new shooters and hope to see them at future matches.
