Gentlemen,

There’s a noticeable wave of innovation in the PCP space, with many new models and advancements emerging. As someone who’s always been a passionate springer enthusiast, I’m curious, are any of the major manufacturers still investing time and R&D into springer technology?

Is there a chance we’ll see a truly exciting, next-gen springer in the near future, or is all the momentum now focused solely on PCPs?

Would love to hear your thoughts on where things are headed.

Cheers from Dubai,

Ajith

Hello @Ajith welcome to the HAM Community! And thanks for a great question. Like you, I look forward to hearing if anyone has any input on this topic 😀

I feel it has been a niche market for several years but it seems like more people are enjoying the pcp world and I completely understand that because I have been shooting those pretty extensively for the last few months. That being said I still love my springers and rammers which I think are simply a wonderful showcase of craftsmanship and simplicity, honestly the springers and rammers work well.

Ahh, this question has been asked before....I love shooting my TX200 very much (and plan to buy another springer!) but in general use my Pcps more often. My question to you would be, what would you expect/wish for that could be improved? We have the HW Rekord, Diana T06, and AA's excellent triggers. Break barrels, underlevers, side levers. Beautiful wood, laminate, or (gasp) synthetic stocks. The stalwart models soldier on with many often sadly out of stock throughout the year. Many are hand made, hand assembled and ask a pretty penny too. LH,RH, ambidextrous stocks exist. Chunky rubber buttpads, carbine or full length can be had in some models, and many are offered in .177 or .22. with a few in .20 and .25 also. I personally believe with springers, "perfection" has been obtained😆
Having said that.... I would love to see pic rails instead of dovetail on some of the higher power airguns (Diana 350!!) , and some built in MOA to compensate for any barrel droop and help with scope alignment with the longer range spring guns.

There you go, you just said it :)

Hope the manufactures are listening !

Welcome to HAM.

There has been some development of spring and gas piston airguns "recently." The SigAir ASP20 was a great new design that had a gas ram, improved lock up, picatinny rail, and an adjustable trigger. Sadly, Sig discontinued it to concentrate on its military contracts and pistols like the 320 and 365. I managed to find one at a decent price at an online auction.

Diana came out with a "modular" 34EMS, which has the T06 trigger, and can swap the spring for a gas ram, swap sights, swap stocks, swap barrels (to change caliber) etc., although I don't really know of all the swappable parts ever became available.

Finally, GAMO continues to refine and improve its breakbarrel repeaters. I wish they would refine and improve the rest of the gun and drop the inflated velocity claims, but it must be working for them.
