Secret Daystate Air Rifle Appears At Extreme Benchrest 2024

In our second report from Extreme Benchrest 2024, we spotted a previously-unseen, secret Daystate air rifle. It was being shot in the 75-Yard Extreme Benchrest Card One.

This new Daystate air rifle could actually be a BRK (formerly Brocock) prototype. Or it could actually be a forthcoming Daystate-branded model.

Nothing was being revealed and the gun was shot disguised with camouflage wrapping to confuse observers. EBR has been used once in the past for such a clandestine outing for a new Daystate or BRK model. That was in 2022. In fact, that gun turned-out to be the future BRK Ghost.

So, what can we say about this secret new airgun?

Well, we can make some comments based on what we saw. As follows…

Secret Daystate Air Rifle – 1

This is a long air rifle! It has a prominent, long, thin HPA tank, together with along forearm under the tank.

These characteristics would tend to indicate that this could be a dedicated benchrest air rifle. If so, that would be news as Daystate has not had a gun of this type before.

It’s a full-length air rifle, not a bullpup. That could mean that it’s a replacement for the Daystate Wolverine, or possibly the Red Wolf, as they are among the older models in the company’s range.

There’s a strange triangular cutout in the stock on both sides above and ahead of the trigger, as you can see. What’s that for? Dunno!

There’s a “club like” end to the buttstock. This was covered by the camouflage tape. That makes one think that it has a Delta Wolf-type touchscreen there, and thus that it’s an electronically-controlled air rifle.

We can also see that the breech has a typical, high magazine position, common to many Daystate guns. There’s a side lever action, as we can see. So it’s not a semi-auto.

There’s a ambidextrous safety positioned directly above the trigger.

It seems to shoot! Chris looked very happy with the results!

Looks like a dial of some sort on back of the action. Maybe this is normal with these as I’m not very familiar with daystates. Very interesting looking set up for sure. Very excited to see this come out as well as the new evols. Also looks to be a AR based grip and stock which gives great options for grips and stocks. Hopefully they both come out sooner rather than later.

Sub moa barrel possibly? It has my gears turning now. I have a feeling my wallet is going to be pretty light in the coming months, or hopefully not years. I’m not good at waiting but also do not have a choice but to wait lol.

Absolutely. I’ve been saving for quite a long time waiting for the new evols to come out. By the time they are released I should be able to buy a couple of new ones. Hopefully this new rifle is as promising as it looks. I don’t really hunt with air rifles, more just bench rest and possibly get into PRS in the future.

I never use to hunt with one but the EVOL is about all I use now short of larger game. and we are required to have a minimum of a .45 cal.

99 down and 99 a month for 99 years! I would only be 145 years old when it’s paid off. Pretty standard in today’s economy!

OK, so there's actually two guns being shot here. Here's a close-up of the second gun. It shows a pressure gauge that's not visible in the photos previously published.

As you can see, the Muzzle Velocity was 905 FPS. I don't know the caliber or pellet weight in use here.

Looks like it says "Daystate" on the gauge face plate. But, as this is obviously a prototype, I'm not reading too much into that...

This style of gun is IT at the moment for sure (Red panda, Panthera, Snipe, that new Barra, etc) Long range, lower shot count, tube fed, long beasts....and I just got my Ghost this spring🤭 Sub Moa barrel? Hmm I doubt it. Daystate doesn't seem to veer away from using LW but that would be neat if they sold em with those barrels as an option like other manufacturers are starting to. Now if it's a new slug barrel from LW I will actually be a little peeved as I'm waiting for one for my Ghost....unless they release this gun and slug barrels at the same time🤔 Will be watching!
