PCP S510 Fixing issues and voiding my warranty 😁

I have to be honest , IF , I spent the kind of $$$$ for ANY gun that had issues like those , It would definitely be going back to the seller/ warranty center or seller for corrective action or replacement. I don't relish teardowns or fixing any thing that is supposed to be "ready to go" for whatever it's to do. Just my way. Most anything today will be addressed by a manufacturer if addressed in a cordial manner. If not , the social media/ reviews will hurt badly. I move away from said bad performers/ service to something / someone else. Auto, carpet, airguns, firearms scopes& appliances , been there done that, have the receipts and letters;). Good luck in all your endeavors.
You are certainly not wrong by any means. None of the funds that I paid were defective nor was the purchase discounted in some way.

I made several 50y 5 shot groups and a 30 shot group.

My 30 shot benchmark for the JSB 18.13 is 2.25 MOA with a clean barrel. I’ve done this several times consistently.

Now 30 @ 50y is 2.02 MOA

5 shot groups .76, .68 MOA
The first five shots of the 30 shot group were comparable in my scope.

I’m not sure if I should try a 30 shot group with the monster lights that is what it shot the best overall see what that looks like or go ahead and polish the barrel.

Hmm I'd stick with just the reliable 18.13. In this case less data might be more šŸ¤”

If you were in this situation would you polish the barrel or not? I’m starting to feel a little on the fence now that it will shoot sub MOA at 50y 🫤.

Ugh!!! šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«
Honestly I'd still give her a light polish. You have inspired me (thanks!!) and I plan to rip mine apart in the off season at some point. It's not broken per-se but it's not 100% either. If you haven't seen it, check out the American Airgunner video on the S510 barrel polish. Nick does the work, and is an AA afficionado and explains it well in the Video.

Go big or go home šŸ˜Ž.

Easy answer. Unless I were to buy a Thomas, the first thing that I do when I buy any gun is to clean and polish the bore. Before I ever shoot it. I won't shoot groups or sight in, until I adjust the trigger too. Why bother? What is the point of shooting the gun first when you know you have to clean it? Why try to shoot for any kind of accuracy with a trigger that isn't the way you like it, when you know that doing so will shrink your groups, and you always end up doing it anyway?

I’m with you on cleaning the barrel AND adjusting the trigger to something more respectable.

That terrifies me😵🤣 ...I shoot a gun first, record specs, see what I've got, keep the first groups it's ever printed, and THEN I dive in (if needed). My S510 is the only gun that the trigger is just perfect. TX and Ghosts are not to my liking and will be worked on eventually.

That’s sounds like work. I’m lazy - shoot it til I’m dissatisfied lol.

Your answer terrifies me! Think about it. If they put cosmoline or some other thick preservative in the barrel, it is collecting debris from all departments after that, and shipping after that, and then you're going to just shoot that stuff out of your bore? No thanks! That is not going to tell me nothing that's meaningful to me. You fire something that is ready and prepared to be fired, not shipped. Just like triggers that are set for lawyers and lawsuits, not shooters. Nope. Set your gun up to be shot and then shoot it. Do you try to shoot groups without putting a scope on first? Ridiculous right? That's how I view shooting a gun out of the box. ... different strokes etc.

Ya I do clean the barrel first, but that's 100% it. If you do all that work outta the box and then come to find the guns got problems... was it something you did? What if it was better before you worked on it or modded it? I want a baseline! FL22 knows 100% what his S510 is/isn't capable of, and now he's ripping in. He 100% WILL KNOW if it's better, worse, or the same after its done. If he did it right out of the box he'd never know. If this was his 3rd S510 and he's an expert on em that might be different of course.

You can't get a baseline if the gun is actually damaged can you? All that you will find out is that it is damaged. Perhaps if you would check it first that damage could be avoided in the first place. Maybe, If a gun is sold by someone who goes through them first, that's different because someone has been through them already, fire away. A gun straight from a factory, without a test card should not just be shot. It should be checked, I stand by that 100%. Of course, a top tier gun is less likely to be, or have, a problem, but it does not hurt at all to check a quality gun. It's always your call, but I think it's a bad one. Just my opinion. As far as Chinese made airguns go, I have never seen one that didn't need something tightened or adjusted and I am so very happy that I never attempted to fire one first. It's your hobby, do it anyway you like. Good luck, and the more you know, the luckier you get.

I'm with you, shoot first and get a baseline. Because your work may cause a negative response. You then know where the gun should be when you go back to fix it.

To be clear, I didn't say " to work on it," I said, "to check it."
And to be ā€œClearā€ was there ever a time you opened up a new Airgun to ā€œcheck on itā€ that you did not work on it? šŸ™‚šŸ˜ƒšŸ¤£.

I hope you realize that I’m just giving you a hard time. I truly appreciate all your help and encouragement šŸ‘.

Personally, I have to do it this way if I do not have a good baseline I will end up screwing around with it until I eventually break it or get mad and destroy it having lost all measure of objectivity.

Please recall my thread about my BSA meteor super. What helped me to not take further drastic measures after everything I went through including replacing the barrel (twice) that I destroyed (1) was using HAMs review.

After polishing the new barrel several times until I achieve results that ultimately exceeded their testing did I stop.

I have subsequently left that airgun alone with the feeling that I have made it as good as I can.
