So here’s some coverage of the 2024 Pyramyd Cup Gunslynger Competition. Plus there’s big support for the event from the airgun trade. Today, we’re looking at some of the scope vendors and more.
BTW, our heading photo shows Abby Casey shooting 100 Yard Benchrest with her Umarex Gauntlet, earlier in the day.
The Pyramyd Cup is so big that I struggled to summarize it in one photograph. But below we see the entrance road. All those flags represent companies supporting the event!
Behind them you can – just – see the headquarters building (approximately center). The tents on the right cover the trade stands. Waaaaay to the right – out of shot – is the Benchrest range. The Field Target Woods course is about half a mile further away, yet still in the range complex. The Cardinal Center certainly is huge!

Now for the Pyramyd Cup Gunslynger competition! This is a rapid-fire, speed silhouette match where competitors fight it out in pairs, with the winner going forward to the next round. The last man (or lady) standing is the winner.
The targets are set in banks of 5 at multiple ranges.: 10, 25, 40 and 55 yards. With the benefit (?) of high winds, this made for VERY challenging shooting!

The targets used for the Pyramyd Cup Gunslynger competition are produced by RX Target Systems and they certainly work well.

The multiple Gunslynger classes kicked-off with “springer Gunslynger”. Rapid fire like this is a real test of shooter, gun and scope!

Then there’s classes for magazine-fed PCPs. Below we see Lauren Parsons competing with her Daystate Delta Wolf.

But there was plenty of other models to be seen down the line, including these FX airguns.

Below, Alex Hatfield is always a strong contender in speed competitions, usually with a slide-action FX Impact.

Below, over at the trade area, Sightron National Sales Manager John Long was showing the company’s new S6 10-60 x 56 ED Field Target scope. Trust me, LOTS of people were interested in this optic!
Hard Air Magazine hopes to have one in-house for review in the near future…

Meanwhile Hawke Sports Optics was present, of course. I managed to catch the company’s “main man” in the US – Kevin Sheehan – in this photograph below.
For those who don’t know, Kevin is a hugely-enthusiastic air gunner. Most of the time at the Pyramyd Cup he’s actually to be found competing at Benchrest and Field Target. Apparently that qualifies as “product testing”, but Kevin certainly has a lot of fun when he’s doing it!!!

So his colleague Jeff Brinkman showed me the latest models, including this latest Frontier 30 FFP model. Again, HAM hopes to have a sample in-house soon for review.

But there was also a surprise among the optics vendors present. A BIG one! Zeiss Sports Optics was present at the Pyramyd Cup for the first time. Known for their ultra-sharp and hugely-expensive optics, I was excited to hear that the company has set its sights (groan) on the airgun market!
And you will be able to buy them through Pyramyd. Yes, you heard that here first!
Below, Chuck Cooley from Zeiss, looks on as an interested attendee checks out the image quality.

Below, it’s not all scopes, of course. Below we see the familiar face of Jay Cogswell. He’s the owner of Predator International, the exclusive JSB distributor for the USA.
Jay tells me they have some exciting new announcements coming soon. But I’m sworn to secrecy…

There’s much more to come at the 2024 Pyramyd Cup. You can read all about it right here in HAM!
