This last weekend I finally got to do some shooting again and after some issues testing my 250z I said the hell with it, and took out my tripod to check zero on my other guns at reaction targets at 95y. That was fun! Nothing like sitting back and slinging lead, quietly, and accurately. I would have to say that the best lazy day shooter of the bunch is actually my Macavity MA2. It is just very very smooth and easy to shoot from the tripod. I do find it harder to be accurate offhand, because of ergos, and me, but on the tripod it's stellar. The 250z actually shot better/consistently at 95y than it seemed to at 53y, shooting slugs. I'm still trying to figure that one out. My best, first round shot after not shooting for a while gun, this time was not my AAA or Mrod, but was my re-barreled P15. Shooting is finally back on the menu! The longer days help too.

I find plinking can be a reality check sometimes. Not getting those tight groups out of a particular air rifle? Set up some plinkables and see what it can do! If you hit most of the time, what is the problem? My S510/me are not pellet on pellet but usually pellet touching pellet. Good enough for me😎 My 40Y record shooting 9mm shells filled with water was 4 in a row. That's mouse or sparrow skull @ 40! Of course I don't compete so the stress is pretty low anyways....But I do like to get the accuracy I paid for.

I always thought all plinking was “pleasurable” as there is no pressure involved. Hits or misses? It’s just whileing away the time and cleansing the mind. For me zero pressure, when plinking if and when I miss, I simply take another shot. Heck! I missed again, big deal, I’ll send a third. Grouping on paper? A whole other ball game, in general I come to the shooting sports for relaxation. My daily job provides plenty of pressure…🙏 Airguns to me are but an escape from the daily grind…

There is certainly different levels of leisure. Sitting back in a comfortable lawn chair, in the shade, with your gun mounted on a tripod set up to you and not the other way around where you are trying to snuggle up to it, shooting at self resetiing spinners, is so much better than blaring away in the hot sun, standing in a swarm of mosquitos and black flys shooting at cans that fly away after one shot, or someone else shooting your target before you get the chance. Both are instances of plinking, that I have done, the former is preferred to the latter. Actually both ways are fun, but only one is pleasurable. My point.

Yeah, I plink alone, yeah with nobody else, you know when I plink alone, I prefer to plink by myself… Sung to the tune… “I Drink Alone”

I had the reference by the 2nd comma... and it's Papa approved. Orphan I plink alone as well.

Nice! I'll give you that one. I usually plink alone too.

I plink alone also, It's more fun when you make your own plinkables like these.
I have them at 30, 50, 80, and 100yds. The bright yellow makes them easy to zero in on.View attachment 12266

Those targets look similar to the size of mine, they are about 5" square duraseal, and on some I'll tie each corner to a branch with Paracord, or if I don't have a branch in the right spot, I run a piece of Paracord between trees, like a clothes line and hang from that. Paracord is light so it doesn't impede free movement, you just have to wait a little longer between shots. The more hang you have the more movement when hit, quite the show. I have these at 120 and 155y and smacking them with a .30 is great fun!
