There’s a lot of news right now from Barra Airguns. In addition to the new model 250z PCP, the company has also announced a range of new Barra 400e models.

The original Barra 400e was introduced in 2022. It was the first full-electric, selective-fire AEG shooting .177 caliber steel BBs. It is also the most accurate BB gun the HAM Team has ever tested!

Overall, we rated overall the 400e as expensive but an absolutely outstanding BB gun that sets new performance levels for this type of airgun. It was an easy HAM Gold Award winner with an exceptional 96% score on test!

Well, now Barra has introduced three new versions of the 400e. There’s a Gen 2 Black 400e, a Gen 2 Tan 400e and a 400e Polymer version. Let’s look at what they have on offer…

New Barra 400e Models – Gen 2 Tan and Black

New Barra 400e Models Announced

These Gen 2 models continue the metal construction with CNC-machined Aluminum receiver of the original 400e, but add some technical improvements. Basically, these are higher velocity, more rounds, and stronger internal components.

The Muzzle Velocity specification for the Gen 2 rises by 10% to 440 FPS. Everyone will like that!

Then the 50-round mag of the original gun has been replaced by a 100-round version. Less stops for loading is good, right? Particularly when you’re burning through BBs on full auto :)

Note that the 100-round mag is also available separately. It also fits the original 400e and so is a great upgrade for owners of that model. And it’s just $25.00.

Stronger internal components include an up-rated internal gearbox, plus a new BB filter ring to minimize jamming.

New Barra 400e Models – 400e Polymer

This model has the same internal design as the 400e Gen 2 but with incorporates a polymer upper, lower, handguard, and faux suppressor.

It’s slightly shorter than the “Gen 2” models and has a Muzzle Velocity spec that’s 10 FPS slower at 430 FPS. But otherwise the Polymer model is very similar to the Gen 2 Tan and Black models, although available in black only.

New Barra 400e Models – Pricing

Barra has also worked to make the 400e even better value. True, the Gen 2 Tan and Black models sell for $440, compared to $400 for the first model. But actually the Gen 2 guns now include a battery and charger that previously cost extra.

Plus they include the improved BB speedloader with steel plunger and that higher-capacity magazine.

So when you take those things into account, plus the effect of inflation in the past few years, the new Gen 2 models are actually significantly better value than the original!

Manufacturing efficiencies mean that the new 400e Polymer model sells for just $300. That’s a $100 reduction against the price of the first model – and it also includes the battery and charger.

All models include flip-up iron sights, give over 1,000 shots per charge of the LiPo (Lithium Polymer) battery and have no issues with falling FPS due to CO2 exhaustion or rapid fire. Plus the more you shoot, the greater the savings compared to CO2-powered airguns.

The new models are available directly from the Barra Airguns website. Just click this link. Oh, and there’s free shipping, too on orders over $100.

Honestly what could you really do with one ?

I just see build a arcade style trap and shoot the star ? I mean unless your using a trap to recycle the bb's and reuse them a lot outside that seems pointless . Then the battery goes dead ..lil

Thank You. I am eagerly waiting for a review 😉 I do believe you mean 440 fps for the metal gen 2 and not 400fps. This should be fun.

All I can see is a home version of shoot the red star game . What else ?

Bud, you just made an excellent point sometimes a grown-up wants to be a kid for a little bit.

Besides, if the first one sucked (sales wise), why would they make a second generation? Last time I checked, throwing good money after bad was not a competent business move. 😁

Why a good business fails I guess . Maybe need a failing product as tax write-off..lol

Only other thing I could see is a juvenile delinquent some dad gave him to get out of his hair and go shoot pets and property damage .. lol

Basement / garage arcade shooting is really about it. Keep the battery charged and recycle bb's it be fun . Boring fast but fun ..

Back when the Drozed Blackbird was a popular gun I had acquired a few of them as well as some serious aftermarket modifications. At the time we had a large permission that had a huge rat problem. As evening came literally thousands of rats would come crawling out from under the foundations of the buildings. Due to the sheer numbers having a few of these full auto BB guns become our go to killing machines. The biggest issues we had were the safety hazard of ricochets, not the safest but certainly effective. We at one time we're using lead BB's that minimized the ricochet hazards but the guns weren't entirely very economic. Personally I'd love one of these new 400e models, the quality looks fantastic. It's like anything people are interested in, they spend money on stuff that gives them enjoyment.

Shooting mice, rats, pest birds, insects, wild cans and such. I have a C02 auto bb gun and it is a fun gun. Surprisingly accurate for a bb gun.
I guess .. I figure if mice or rats are so bad I need full auto something I better burn and bulldoze the place down before the health dept condems it ..lol

The birds ? Like your yard ,song, bug eaters? That one to me falls under delinquency..lol 😂

Hateful, what part of Ultimate Can Killer doesn't excite you? (Oh, and anybody from Barra, need an M249 version soon!)
Well that kinda falls under arcade set up . I'd still want to trap and recycle all them bb's your just spewing laa de daa around .lol 😂
