My Maverick .30 VP is @ UA getting repaired. I asked to be given a trade in quote in which they offered $765 for the gun. I’m thinking about it because I don’t have to list it, wait for payment , pack it, ship it, deal with buyers….plus I can get store credit and get a gun I would actually use in a caliber that’s more useful to me. Thoughts? Yeah it’s a loss but honestly it’s a chance to offload one quick.

There's lots of costs involved for a dealer in selling a used product. You have already listed many of them. There's also credit card processing fees to be paid too for the new purchase. That's another 3% on their selling price. Plus the dealer has to make a margin just for paying you upfront and inventorying the product. It may not be sold immediately and he's out of pocket until it sells.

Oh yeah I totally understand they have to make $$ or we lose our beloved UA. It’s also beneficial to me I think to trade it in because I don’t have to deal with selling .

Ahhha the big question. I’m kinda wanting a Compact Katran .177 with a tube. I have the standard.22 and it’s solid. The Katran has way less leak points than the Maverick and it’s much simpler to repair with my limited time and space. I’m a one regulator kinda guy

The only other FXS I have are the Dreamtact and Wildcat which to me seem simpler with one regulator

Kinda like the RAW micro hunter it’s only a 3000 psi fill. NM I’ll stick with Katran it’s simpler

no clue what it is worth if you sold it yourself?
i know most shops on any product have to have room to make money. rather new or used.
if you sold it yourself how much more would you get? 20%, ? if thats all i would trade it and be done. 30% ? i would be thinking 40% i would sell it mayself.
i would say if you sent to them then shipping should not be to big a issue?
pluss they will send it back well packed? sell as back from repair but as is, insure and move on?
just thinking.

Ended up getting a Sightmark - Wraith 4K Mini Digital Riflescopes - 2-16x32mm instead of a gun I’ve been wanting a light weight pesting camera scope for a while. It’s small and light and takes 4k video

NICE! Double win, one less leaky FX in the herd and you can let us know how she goes with the new scope. What rifle you planning to put it on? I always figure if your not the kind of person to strip your pcp yourself to fix a leak maybe don't own an FX. But the new FX King I still find verrrry cool!

Yeah the new FX looks pretty nice but again it’s like a Volvo Xc90. Do you really want to fix its leaks yourself or are you going to send it to the dealer? As far as what gun I’m putting the scope on well… that’s undetermined for now. In the mean time I’m relieved I’ve gotten rid of my leaker. Everything else I own are pretty simple.

Yip agreed on that point. I have 2 springers and one pcp, (hopefully 2 by April!) and when I have half an hour or so to set up and shoot its the springers that get the action! Love my pcp but simple is sometimes better.
