That's right, I stupidly shot the LED display on my ProChronoDeLux chronograph and it died. Good shot you say! I'll take that, but it wasn't I was aiming for. Oh well, it's served me well over the years. But now I think that I want something nicer, something more convenient. I've studied chronographs online and watched YouTubes 'til my eyes hurt, and I think I've decided on the Athlon Ranger, selling for $399.00 at both Pyramyd and AoA. Do any of you have any guidence for me? Laugh and call me stupid, then give me your wisdom, please. Thanks, Orv.

There are no accidents, at least it didn’t suffer 😉.

Cash in those HAM points and give AoA a call, the discount is good for the entire order minus shipping.

Chrono survivors club 🤣 I’ve shot mine twice and it’s still kicking—Pro Chrono toughness for the win. I was chasing true BC on a slug, which meant placing the unit close for muzzle velocity, then again at 50 yards to track drop. Not exactly a safe job for fragile gear. The Athlon Velocity Pro, and I’ve gotta say—it’s impressive. For the price, it holds its own against the FX True Ballistics Chronograph and Caldwell VelociRadar. All three offer true BC and radar tracking, but Athlon nails the balance of features, portability, and cost. If you're tuning slugs or dialing long-range drops, it's a solid choice.

I use both Labradar units and like those outdoors. I also keep a cheap Chinese aliexpress for tuning airguns in the garage. Sometimes I don’t need to log the data, and I just want simple shot to shot read outs. 1st world problems, but it’s a nice luxury.

I use this style, they are usually 30-40 bucks on aliexpress. I have the smaller units that clamp on the barrel, but I prefer the larger. It also just uses AA batteries instead of an internal rechargeable that you will misplaced the charging cord 😂

Is this the story you are telling your wife? You "accidentally" shot your old one, not that you wanted a new one but now you have no choice.

I have only played with the Athlon chronograph fir a few min but was impressed.
Everyone I have spoken to about it gives it high praise.

John
thanks my story LOL
yep stick with it brother.

as for me I m a fan of Athlon I dont have one of the cronies but I am a fan of the company.

pics...or it never happened
You mean witnesses right?

Example:

Crono takes a dirt nap.

Hand..I mean wind, wind knocks it over on the ground.

You have to make an important phone call or you see a squirrel, become distracted and step on it.

Better yet tell the wife you saw a snake,

“ Honey it was one of those Yellowheadedrattlemoccasin that new invasive species they’ve been talking about it’s super deadly, and I tried to get it with the lawnmower, but I mistakenly ran over my crono in my haste, I just was just trying to keep you safe”

😂😂😜

Oh boy howdy , . . that's a good one.

Here's another with a WiFi readout to a smartphone, same price.

Oh she knows alright. . . She was standing just about 3 feet away! After 55 years of splendid marital bliss, this hardly scores on the dumb husband scale. Fortunately I've got a few bucks nestled away for "emergencies". After all, a man must have his tools, right?

I’ve found with modern iOS devices they will not stay connected. Apple did something in their settings if it doesn’t detect a data stream it will disconnect.

I shot my Pro-Chrono too. I contacted the manufacturer and they agreed to repair it for about half the price of a new one. That's what I did and now, I'm extra careful in setting it up

I wunder if that a setting.
its all over my head but seems like overtime I have a issue there some setting that is wrong or got changed with an update?

Thanks for that tip. So far my Competition Electronics DLX stays connected to my Android phone even for a good while of inactivity. I want to get a piece of thick Lucite to protect the front of it from "accidents."

That piece of lucite would have saved my chrono fron it's death by pellet. It did live a long and useful life. I've now ordered my new Athlon Optics chronograph from Airguns of Arizona. Using my HAM points knocked 10% off the price, thank you HAM. I'm a true Luddite on all things computer, so a walk through on the use of my points by Mr. Archer made the problems disappear. I realize that I must have seemed a pest, but instead of shooting me as a varment, he guided me through, making the difficule simple. Thank you, Steven. Orv.
