Terry and I made it out to one of our favorite permissions for some late-night Friday night activities. Terry wanted to try out his new Weihrauch HW44 in .22 caliber, shooting roughly about 16fpe and topped with the Arkin Zulus NV unit.
I had recently acquired a new Reximex RP in .22 caliber and had that outfitted with the PARD Nightstalker 4K NV unit. I have been using this little pistol carbine for a few weeks now and have so far been pleased with it's performance on rats.
Terry and I both set ourselves up inside this old barn that sits adjacent to a chicken building, the rats run back and forth along the walls and rafters where they gain access to the chicken house.
Most all the shots are within 12 yards, super close range but still pretty challenging as the rats don't stay still very long.
Terry and I had a very busy night here taking down several dozen rats, it was a serious whack a mole for a few minutes where we were both simultaneously making hits. Matter fact in a few instances we were nailing the same rats for a double THWACK! haha
Terry brought out the trusty old GRABBER as this place has so much junk around it was helpful in using it to recover some of the rats.
The rats ranged in size but we did have a few mega ones that had obviously been eating well, a few were not able to be recovered as they fall behind the junk piles. Overall, it was a successful night, and it was nice to get out with a friend and get to spend some time with our new airguns. These really are fantastic tools for ratting, very effective and the farmer was happy.
Hope to share more, I did video everything, but it will be sometime before I can get to editing. Cheers
