Ghost How well does the .177cal Ghost HP shoot slugs?

I was thinking about buying a .177cal barrel for my Ghost and then started to consider getting another rifle and leaving both in one state of tune. If I wanted to only shoot the 13gr JSB slugs, is the factory stock Ghost HP a capable platform without changing anything? Are there better options without buying a bunch of parts and customizing a rifle? Perhaps the Delta Wolf is better?

I don't have the .177 cal, only 22 cal on my ghost plus, I tried howler 20grs. with many tunes, but they shot sloppy groups at 25yds, so i gave up on them. you will see a lot of neg reviews on slug shooting from ghosts, most are waiting for the new barrels from Sub Moa. BRK- Brocock website shows slug barrels in stock, but i have already invested over 25hundred so far, I will wait for reviews from other members who try the slug barrels.
Good luck with your new barrel. let us know how you do if you get the .177

I guess it comes down to luck of the draw on equipment, projectiles, and your overall shooting skill with all that on your sholder.

The BRK Ghost .177 HP shoots the JSB KO 13.43 gr very well around 920-930 FPS

I've seen you mention this issue before....I'll ask the BIG question: what would you use the gun in that config for? My guess would be longer range and small birds say past 50Y? I would advise against that idea, wind will beat you up more in .177 vs .22, and when u want to grab n go and you got the wrong barrel still on.... If it's a bench/toy only, then heck grab a barrel in each caliber if you want! All the info I have seen to date says the 28in Slug barrel for .177 is still a slow twist L.W. which amazes me....Sure don't work in .22 for slugs! The stock HP has more than enough power but does the 23inch barrel it comes with shoot slugs ok? I think not, check in with @Franklink or @Solo1 they would know for sure. Soren is shooting the 28in slug barrel and gets drool worthy groups.

I do not hunt, but I do a ton of pesting on my property. My pcps are set up and ready...S510 does duty 20-50Y and Ghost kicks in 50-100Y (not a rule just the norm) and are always on standby. I sometimes feel I am not "getting what I paid for" by running one barrel in a gun so we'll designed to swap back and forth as desired (and is in part a reason why the platform is so expensive!) ....but you know what they say about feelings However I would 100% grab another barrel for my Ghost vs springing for a delta wolf...which by the way runs the 100% SAME barrels!

I didn’t play much with slugs in the 23” barrel cause thats my ft gun and I don’t mess with it it shoots 13 jsb great and i just dhoot ft and practice with it. I bought a 28” 177 barrel for my for my other ghost and it shoots 13 jsb slugs great!

Inner circle 7/16” outer 1-3/8” and. Thats a mag dump!

This is interesting. If you had the same grain weight, and projectile design why would the .22 out perform the .177?

Id almost agree but the biggest .177 slugs weigh about as much as the smallest .22 slugs. If you want great bc in the Firearm world (without breaking the bank), ppl shoot 204 ruger, 220 swift, 222, 223, 22-250, etc. Killer bc, tons of speed, and enough grain weight to take out decent size targets. Once you go past 30gr In a .22 slug magic starts to happen, and you get into .22LR territory. A 20gr .177 will beat out a 20gr .22 for sure in the BC world I'd think! There is more surface area for expansion with .22 so less pass through, and WAY more ammo choices. I watch the FX boys (Air Hunter Gerhard, Air Tac Hunting, Utah Air, Matt Dubber) and pay close attention to what they are shooting (ammo not the guns) and slugs 30 to 40gr are the ticket for reaching out, cant argue their results.

That brings up other factors for sure. I suppose that originally I was hung up on the part about the "wind beating you up" by shooting the .177, hopefully I will have more time to experiment with this in the coming months.
