The term “Title Ladder” refers to an element of software functionality in the Hard Air Magazine Community that gives a “title” or “status badge” based on participation level within the Community. This Title Ladder is automatically controlled by the operating system of the Community.
You can see the title here, whenever a post is made.
Previously, we had this set at the most basic – default – level with titles being “New Member”, “Member”, “Active Member” and “Well-known Member”. These titles were based on the number of messages posted by each member. Clearly we could do better…
The new HAM Community Title Ladder is intended to better recognize the levels of input attained by a member. The titles are also intended as an inducement to post more by giving status to higher posters. More messages posted gives a higher status title.
But – you may say – why have the Title Ladder based on the number of messages, rather than HAM Airgun Points earned?
Good question! It’s because HAM Airgun Points can be redeemed against purchases from participating retailers. When that happens, the appropriate number of points is deducted from a member’s total. If the Title Ladder was based on HAM Points, you would take a hit on your HAM Title, when redeeming Points. That wouldn’t be justifiable or fair.
As I analyzed the numbers of messages posted by individual HAM Community members, it became clear that there’s a VAST range. From a minimum of zero messages, we have some members who have already posted more than 2,500 messages during the short life of the Community – THANK YOU to all posting members!
So we have a wide range of different levels in the HAM Community Title Ladder to reflect this range. Here it is…
