Precision-Slug-55.jpgAt H&N we always strive to meet the needs of shooters in the world of airgun ammunition. With advances in airgun technology, we believe in always keeping pace with new, improved products in the shooting world.

With barrel and power improvements among airguns, we responded with the first Slug HP range. Over time, with feedback from the hunters among you, we responded with the T-Slot Hollow Point for the H&N Slug HP II and the new H&N Heavy Slug range. This new improved T- Slot shape of the cavity, allows for quicker deformation when hitting a game's body and delivering the sufficient energy needed to take down your target with ease.

In the increasingly popular long range air rifle competitions, shooters take aim at steel and paper targets, and are looking for a slug which is precise and accurate even in difficult wind conditions. Knowing this we teamed up again with pro shooter Airhunter Gerhard and developed a new slug: the H&N Precision Slug.

The new H&N Precision Slug is even more reliably accurate than the other H&N Slugs, and with average BC(G1) of 0.140 significantly less susceptible to wind and maintains a flatter trajectory.

What's the secret? Well in short it is the optimized shape of the ogive and the cavity that raises the BC factor. The latter is also deeper than on our first slugs, bringing the center of gravity to a perfect point for stable flight. Of course we have added some of our own trade secrets that we can’t discuss but what you surely will enjoy every time you hear the sweet sound of steeling ringing!

Btw: that doesn't mean that you cannot use it for hunting!

Initially, the slug will only be offered in .22 caliber (.217 and .218) and only in the 33 grain weight version.

Production has started. Unfortunately, as always, airgunners overseas have to be a little more patient until the slugs are available in their country.

Hello Jörg,

Thanks for sharing this information with the HAM Community! I look forward to seeing the new slugs "in person" 😉

I do have one immediate question, however. Can you please confirm the length specification for H&M Precision Slugs? Thank you!

Ya, I see guys with ''short" or narrow mags may like that answer

Leaves a lot of questions unanswered, like BC based on what and at what speed, why concentrate on the nose shape when most drag comes from elsewhere, a deeper cavity usually moves the CG rearwards which reduces stability, not increases it, so what has changed to make stability better?

The stability change may reduce group sizes if the design was over stable to start with, but that would depend on the rifle twist rate and the slug physical properties.

Only testing will really tell. It may well be a better slug design, but certain statements raise obvious questions.

Oh man I just got the Hp 2 slugs to try!!🤪🤣 No worries I don't have a barrel that can shoot slugs yet 🤦‍♂️ I'll keep waiting. Good on you for starting with .22 but if Gerhard is your tester than I believe .22 is the only option (African laws I believe?!) Thanks for the update.

Jörg:
When do you expect the market to stock the above slug for customers? I Have been watching several suppliers, none are listing this slug.
Tks

Nah i just got one from 40yards away with an 18gr pellet @880... Tis all you really need😏 It would be cool to pit these new slugs against some others though!
i get one every few days but when fall hit they are a plague : )
i will mostly shoot pellets but i am to try some slugs for when i go out hunting

I see now the BC is based on G1. Why G1, it is totally the wrong shape for hollow point slug drag laws. There are better drag laws around like RA4 or SLG0 which give a more accurate match to the slug drag law shape. At high speeds using G1, you will get an artificially high BC value. 🤔

If you shoot at 100 meters you can adjust your bc so poa is poi. Then you have the right bc. From 0-50 meters the bc adaption has no invloence.
