What's the meaning for the power rating on h&n pellets. Like this tin jas 7.9j. Then another had 16j

What does this represent ? Impact energy at a distance ..? Gun power rating to be used ?

Yes I think it's an indication of the recommended power that H&N considers necessary for successful shooting. Hopefully Joerg from H&N will see this thread and provide the correct answer.

Ya, I kinda looked at it as maybe the pellets energy. A light weight pellet shows say 7j , buy a slug with some mass is like 100j. Then that equation prefix meaning as well (??). Anyway om figuring on mass of the projectile ( maybe?) ..lol

My understanding that the power quoted, eg 7 joule etc is the minimum required to achieve satisfactory results.
It's working for me, so I'm sticking with it. 😉
Maybe... ?? Then I guess the
E "underscored >" 16j . I'd assume the pellets energy is greater then 16j or your gun energy greater then 16j ?

Idk .. your reply sounds plausible...

I read somewhere that it indicates how much energy your gun needs to produce to successfully shoot that pellet. Maybe H&N’s website.
Serms I asked this before or it's in a thread somewhere the h&n guy answered , I think ..lol. my old fuzzy brain could be confused and fooling me ..

You got them slugs I thought have 100j on them So that's like near a one shot pcp cannon use?

Successfully shoot the pellet ... I guess if it don't stick 1/2 way in the barrel and needs a full day of digging it out that could be a successfully shot pellet🤤

So now what the parameters of a successfully shot pellet.

Hi,

As the others have already correctly explained, it is an indication for the minimum muzzle energy an air rifle should have so that the pellet/slug can be shot without malfunction. This indication is for function only, not for precision. For example, slugs usually need more energy (or velocity) as indicated to produce nice shot groups.

Thanks.. 👍
