Hi all, I am new to the community, hope I am following the house rules...

I am straggling to find H&N pellets in .22 for my Red Wolf Safari & HP & red laminate HP in .22 they just DONT GROUP! (2" @ 55 yards)
Where I live there are ONLY H&N available, other brands are NOT imported and it is illegal to by on line or import ANYTHING related to guns, any kind or any part.
I had the chance to test my rifles with JSB 18.3 and both rifles group them to ~1/2" @ 55yards ! so the rifles are OK!
Any one have good results with H&N??? We do NOT have all pellets types, but I can have special order (by a certified gun dealer) for me, but I need to commit to 150 tins per type.
I don't want to order 150 tins just for "test"
Any advice??

Thank you

Thanks for joining the H.A.M community you post is in the correct section of the forum but it may also be worth putting the question to the H&N section as they may have some other customers that already use h&n and jörg I’m sure will be able to advise 👍🏻

My experience has been that most airguns like JSB pellets. With H&N pellets (and to be clear - pellets, not slugs) it is more hit or miss. Either the barrel shoots really good or generally poor with the H&N pellets. I believe a lot of this has to do with the difference in hardness. JSB pellets are really soft and likely conform to more barrels. H&N has a harder alloy they use.

Which H&N pellets have you tried? Also what head sizes and weights?

The 21gr H&N Barracuda Match are available in 5.51 and 5.52 head sizes. I would give both a try.
The 18s have shown to be a bit more flexible than the 21gr. They tend to favor more barrels, but to reiterate my first statement - they either shoot really well or they don't.

Not sure what other brands are available to you in terms of airguns, but I've found KalibrGun Crickets, in general, do very well with H&N pellets. My Daystate Alpha Wolf does really well with the 10.64gr Barracuda Match in 4.50 head size - which is why I suggest trying multiple head sizes if available to you.

Thank you, I cannot order so many just for test, I tried the Barracuda Mach & Hunter extreme, I don't see any information on the tin if it is 5.51 or 5.52
I am looking to learn from you guys experience, I exhausted my option to test by my self (no other types available in here, unless I order large QTY.

10X!

I agree on the high speeds being a likely cause for your issues. Do you have any of the H&N slugs available to test out? They come in heavier weights and can handle the higher speeds too.

Might be worth doing some searching to find out if others have had success with H&N slugs on the RedWolf platform.

On other thought - Heliboard - do a search on Google for it. Programmable 12-memory replacement main board for the RedWolf. This would allow you many more power levels and the option to relatively easily tweak the programs to get the speeds you want.

The only slugs available in my country are H&N 36g in 217. I have no problem with them. Accuracy is perfect 1/2" @ 55y.
But they are heavy and powerful.
I really need Pellets for plinking and dove hunt

It seems like the only available option for you is to have it re-programed to a lower power setting to better suit the pellets available to you. Even the 21 grain Barracudas have a hard time with accuracy past around 910fps in my experience. Especially if you could get the 1st power setting to shoot 16 and 18 grain pellets in the mid to high 800's where they seem to like it best.

I have a Red Wolf HP in .22 and IMO I don’t think you will get H&N’s to group well because the head size is in the 5.51-5.53 range and my Red Wolf likes larger head pellets. I suggest trying the JTS Dead Center 22.07, 21.53, these are most 5.56 with some 5.57’s. The 18’s are 5.52-5.53. I have my first shipment of the 25.39’s coming and I assume they will be in the 5.56 range. I’m shooting the 22.07 on med @ 1018 fps and the 21.53’s at 1030 fps.
