So I began tuning my Dreamline .22 for the future of my entry into Field Target. Tuning to FtLbs rather than FPS is a bit daunting to be honest. 15.9 FX pellets are in the middle of what I own. It was between 14.35, 15.9 and 18.13 with the 25 gr MRD being out of the question. I decided the 15.9 is what I am going to try first. Drop my reg pressure from 110 bar to a mere 50 bar and go from there.

I am currently at 60 bar and in the realm of 18ftlbs which is pretty much what I’m looking for so there’s wiggle room if and when the gun is checked. My issue is the spread and std dev numbers are too high for my liking. 32/10 respectively. So I reach out to my real internet friend @CTAirgunner1288

Kevin has a wealth of knowledge that I sometimes need to draw upon. He gives me some sound advice that I will be putting to work tomorrow afternoon on where to go with hammer spring tension. I’m very thankful to call him my friend. I’m not crushing on him, I’m just giving props to someone that rightly deserves it. In todays world, I believe the airgunning community is one of the best around. Not all are as helpful as others but I’m sure the good way out number the not so good. Thank you Kevin 🤜🏻🤛🏻

What are your settings? From your numbers, I’d say your hammer is hitting the valve too hard for your reg pressure.

For reference, my dreamtac compact 22 (310mm barrel) was shooting 750fps with 14gn crosman pellets with reg at 130ish bar, and hammer almost as low as it would go. My sd was 3.
So in short, it sounds as though you and @CTAirgunner1288 are in sync with my current situation with to much HST.

My settings as of this morning are with 15.9 gr pellets a reg pressure of, we’ll call it 68 bar and before I backed the spring tension all the way off this morning I think it was about 7-10 turns in.

So I am starting with the reg where it is currently and starting with “0” HST. I gotta be honest, I got a bit frustrated yesterday. Today I’m feeling much better about this current situation.

Part of the reason I was able to pass on such info IS because the airgun community is great and people like @Madeintheuk have passed what knowledge they have on to me through discussion.

That's another reason this forum is going to be a great place to hang out 😀 🤘

Depending on your barrel length i would up reg pressure to at least 100-110 bar or even higher with a compact barrel for a tight SD at 20fpe.

So 70bar with zero HST or at least the collar flush with the breach block resulted in a beautiful SD and spread, but too much power. I increased my reg pressure and up and down on the hammer spring. Settling in at 60 bar with 3.25 turns on the hammer spring for the final product for now. And a couple photos of the paper sheet tracking. I’m satisfied for now. Until I build a .177 😎.

Glad it worked out. They’re really easy to tune in hindsight. Just gotta look for that “knee” for the perfect tune.
In hindsight I was at 110 and the 15’s were flying at about 925. I need to be at 730-747 to be right on the margin of over 20ftlbs. Thank you for the insight and help. 👍🏻
