Got some practicing in in the winds today

Got some shooting done in the wind today,
(8mph with 20mph cross breeze at times, hurricane Lee is departing the northeast) it was purposeful....

Shot 5 cards, all 5 cards based on scores at past 3 events that have taken place would have gotten me into the finals on a day like today (correct me if im wrong , 216 218 220 220 220) , but not good enough to come in top 10 I don't believe but , they were all consistent in score and I didn't use a single sighter shot.

Confident in my shots, but definitely need to learn how to make use of the tools given to me.

But most important I've spent the entire day outside with peri, enjoying it. That's what is really about.

CANT post video on HAM forum so take a look at my IG post to see the winds. Give a follow too 😉

Just out shooting walnuts with everything. Good crop this year, maybe it will help the squirrels. Our numbers are still down like 90% around here, after the squirrel apocalypse we had, a few years back. Beautiful day for sure! Your scores were good. Don't burnout. Save some for competing!

Sighters will result in higher scores. No one that I know who comes in the top 20 skips shooting sighters. Some shoot excessive sighters, but even top shooters like Nicolay Boldov and Thayne Simmons shoot a reasonable amount of sighters... Those scores are very good for windy conditions.
Wind flags will also increase your score once you know how to read them.

Edit: Its interesting that neither RMAC nor PAC finals had challenging wind conditions. Perhaps EBR 2023 will change that? :sneaky:

I had 3 home made (not the best) flags out yesterday, you can see the first one in the video. however at the range at home they are tough to read as wood piles line the lane. I try my best, I don't purposely choose to skip the sighters, I just don't think of them at the time.... or when I do I get in my head and say "this shot is gunna be a bullseye dont want to miss it" or something stupid like that.

@Centercut I like going out in the off conditions, I keep hearing RMAC had really next to nothing for winds.. shooting in the calm may result in higher scores for me and many but chasing those cores in the off conditions is what is really fun, at least Ive come to enjoy lately.
Not "next to nothing". NOTHING. Zip. Zilch. Nada....
