Ghost Got me 30 ghost yesterday

Ok so here’s the story on my 3 rd ghost a 30 cal. Ill be posting as i get it dialed but so far a put a helos 6-24x56 on top changed the reg from 150 ( Tony shot 50 gr @920 at 30 yds 5 in 1 single hole 94 fpe ) but i need to get under 80 fpe so i dropped the reg to 120 shot a couple shots and changed the hammer black spring for a red 1. So now i have this with 44.8 fx pellets and i shot it today and got a bc of .044 for them sighted @40 yds in 1 ragged hole from styx and a 2” group of 8 @100. Wasent really too worried about group size as i hate the stock butt pad it slides on my shoulder so went home and made my own pad changed the reg gauge and grip to my usual and i think it should be ready to fine tune things.

Nice! Hmmm you might get more S-P-F than my .22 with that low a reg pressure! Is the red spring meant for the .30, and did you get it bone stock?

Yea it was stock and the red spring is for the 25 but with the black spring on pw 2 i was still over 900 and it sounded like it was hitting pretty hard so with the red spring i got the velocity i was looking for ( under 80 fpe) near the top (pw 16)
Oh and yea 36 shots out of a 480 bottle

Ok so i got out to shoot 100 from the bench today and took the 30 and 25 for some head to head shooting in light wind don’t think there was anything over 5 mph but it was inconstant and switching. So with out further adoo here’s what the 30 produced

The low shot on left was a checker after switching to 50 again to check if there was anything change when i switched bottles. 50 was 1 ragged hole with both guns and when the wind was up groups grew but i think the 30 had an edge over the 25 not by a lot but an edge and both pellets were unsorted.

The .25 33.95 will shoot great at high speed for 100 yard shooting, it's a toss up whether the weight of the 30 or the speed of the 25 takes the cake.

I was shooting both at 900 basically. I don’t know if faster would be better or not chose this speed cause the bc came in best for both there. Though i didn’t check bc today but my dope was real close for both- was shooting holdovers

I am looking forward to comparing the .25 XR Sniper VS the Sonoran VS the Ghost with my .25 barrel!

I’ve been shooting my 177 slug barrel to get my dope down for hp ft wanting to try it again but got the 30 out today @50 with fx pellets. No problem at all to get 1” and smaller groups from styx its truly amazing how easily it shoots from styx will be a good hp ft gun

Great to see you getting awesome results. Been looking at a couple used ghosts but I am terribly hesitant to get a used 30 in fear of it being un loaded for a sub par barrel. Really wonder how prevalent that problem is. Also pretty awesome you can get that power on 120 reg. I wonder how low you can go on the reg with the stock hp spring before it over powers the valve ?

Don’t know i just went right down to try to max shot count and when shooting yesterday actually shot 5 mags 40 shots. It came at 150-165 don’t remember now 50 gr pellet 94 fpe. I would guess with stock spring 140-150 would be as low as you could go then you would need red spring. I kinda wonder if the problem people were having was people trying to turn it down with stock spring? Too much air going past pellet leaving the barrel?

I guess you never know with used, The kid next door was bad mouthing his S510, I heard from his buddy that he just said it so his dad would let him sell it and get a Sidewinder auto. I would get the ghost, you will love it.

Thats the thing about used airguns you just never know how they were treated or why they were actually sold.

The Ghost is a sweet platform, I'd go for it if the price is good. Only thing that can get you really, is a bad barrel. If that happens save you pennies and get a good barrel..... Sub-moa or even a new Brk. I wouldn't want an airgun any more adjustable than the Ghost and electronic rifles are a hard pass for me...makes the Ghost about perfect

You are buying a solid platform, and if the barrel is good, it's a win; if not, you can now select and choose the barrel(s) you want for the gun. It's always a good idea to talk to the seller on the phone, in my opinion.

Well I was looking at one at A of A. They do actually have a 30 day return policy so I guess only return t shipping wouldn’t be covered in worse case scenario. The other factor is I already have a delta wolf converted to an alpha. I could get a barrel kit but for some reason in my mind I really have a problem with 800 plus for a barrel. Another thing, is used DW are selling for about the same money as the ghost. I don’t mind the electronics and that is hard to pass but it would be nice to have the mechanical platform along with the electro. All these decisions are tough. This hobby can be a real beeeotch at times. Lol

Well 1 way to look at it if you go for the ghost even if the barrel was bad you could just ask aoa to replace the barrel. You could also get a sub moa slug barrel and have a slug shooter too!

I bought my Ghost used from AOA. As you mentioned, you do have the 30 day return window. They do shoot it and include the test target before shipping the rifle. If you buy it, I’d unpack it, run a patch or two through it, check every external screw for tightness and shoot a test group.
