It isn’t like that. I haven’t had an amazing rifle in several years. I sold my Thomas because I wasn’t shooting Field Target anymore and it felt like a major waste of money to leave it with its Kahles. My FX Crown was probably the other best rifle I have had, but sold it to try something else, but I don’t really remember what at this point. I have always tried 2-3 new rifles minimum per year.
Since selling my Crown, I have lost count of the different things I have tried, several of which were to just try something new or something that “felt” better or fit a task better. At this point, I have just sold off faster than I have purchased.
Tried another Impact, used, and it was not good, reg problems. Tried a Ghost finally and really didn’t like it. Reminded me of the platform things I didn’t like about the Impact, no reg problem, but just didn’t care for the platform and the trigger is bad. Tried an Epoch and actually liked it well, but just sold it because I wasn’t shooting it much. Sold off a TX200 I wasn’t shooting. Picked up a Prophet I that shot great, but I couldn’t bring myself to like it with the magazine/probe right at my face. Tried a Delta Wolf and it was not up to expectations that I had built up for years, and again have decided that I’m not the biggest fan of that platform like the Ghost and Impact. Just had a Skout Evo, but I guess I minded the leaks that it had more than others, even if they say that is the way it should operate.
At this point, I think I want to try something I have never tried instead of going back to something I have tried.
I prefer rifle platform vs bullpup, but mostly because of the ease of setup, so that is what I’m looking for now. I have never tried an Evol, but am getting a little tired of waiting, and I’m also getting tired of buying used. The best rifles I’ve owned were brand new, setup perfectly by the retailer. The new Daystate has my eye as well, but only if it is in a chassis.
So lots going on, trying to narrow down hat I like most. Also trying to narrow down and pick up the right tools for the right duties, instead of trying to make a couple rifles work for different purposes.
