so i am looking and have looked.
what is a good app?
i looked at at downloaded chairgun, tried to get strelok.
from what i read chairgun is no longer supperted so at some point it will most likely be gone or just not be able to function on the new phone someone gets?
Stelok is just not avalible with todays climet?
so what the alternative?
if your going to put in the time to learn one why not choos one that is here to stay?
allso i persanaly dont mind buying but rentting is a hard pill for me to swallow so?

hope people that are really into Ballistics Calculations will enter in and help educate some of us.
P.S.
i persanally am not opposed to pencil and paper this stuff has to just be math?
maybe a little wichcraft but i figure mostly math.

i looked the element optics app but my iphone does not look to be new enough. planning on a new phone here soon.
checking out Shooterscalculator.com now.

where is everyone getting their drag function G1, 2 , and on as well as Ballistic Coefficien for the differant pellets and or slugs?

I always use g1. As far as BCs of certain projectiles, HAM here has the most extensive list that I have seen anywhere. Alot of times though, I calculate my own BC data. Also, on shooters calculator they have a "correct for atmosphere " function and I highly recommend using that function with the most accurate data you can use. Your BC changes pretty substantial with the conditions as you can see from one of my own charts here. 20231021_064654_copy_271x120.webp

thanks boss
i see i was looking on the communety page intstead of the home page.
No problem! I (or anyone with Strelok) can also give you the default value used in that software, just need to know the projectile you're using.

The best way to go about it, in my opinion, is to generate a value yourself using a chronograph. BC can (& does) vary from barrel to barrel, at different temperatures, and at different velocities.

Don't know that there's an "established" method to it, but I've been doing this:
- average of 10 shots at 1 yard from the muzzle
- average of 10 shots at 50 yards from the muzzle
- plug into Strelok to generate ballistic coefficient (happy to do this for you until you find a software that works on your devices)

I agree with this statement, it is usually best to determine your individual BCs.(HAMS are very accurate most times though) This is the method I use as well. Also, airguns of arizona has a BC calculator on thier site, along with other free calculators.

Here's the default Strelok values for JSB .30 caliber pellets:

Have no idea why there are two values for the 50.15.

Using the method I described above, I got a value of .488 with the 50.15 from my Cricket 2 Tac at ~80F, 50%rh. It has a 1:29.9" twist & is unchoked.

i still need to grab a chrono been planning to get one and just haven't. just been swamp and it has not been at the top of my mind LOL

has anyone every thought about doing the math of any of this?

I use Chairgun Elite Ballistic Tool+ and highly recommend it.
It is pretty extensive in features and function. Also it was updated in the last week so I question rumors of it no longer being supported. New features were added and in my opinion $10 a year is a great value.

The only complete set of ballistic software for airguns, including the MERO trajectory models, is available here, GPC Ballistics Applications for Windows, MacOS and Linux. The original MERO developer died just over a year ago, but the original Chairgun developer has taken it over to keep it up to date. Thus, it is the successor to the original Chairgun, which has not been supported for some time. Chairgun Elite has no connection with the original Chairgun. No other software contains a full set of airgun ammunition specific reference drag laws. MERO and its related software is not available for the Iphone.
