Ghost Any word on 👻slug barrel?

Ok so I’ve learned my lesson trust no one and believe nothing you’re told!! Took my barrel to rich at airgun revisions to have it cut for the ghost. No problem he says and reads off a list of his laurels. I leave being told he needs my whole gun it would be $190 and take 2 weeks. Fine don’t like leaving the gun but ok. Get home email has bill for $210 well how nice he gave himself a tip and didn’t do a thing yet but i pay anyway. Today ( tomorrow is 2 weeks) I get a call he can’t do my barrel cause it needs .009 ground off 1 side and he can’t do it ( even though I told him the bore was off ctr ) when I dropped it off! Thanks rich for wasting my time when i could have been testing the new mrds!
i am not familur with how the ghost is set up but i dont undersand why the .009 should be a issue? he should be able to turn or grind that between centers? maybe he doesnt have enough of a shop for that type work?
what is the reason the barrel as to be turned the hole length?
must be something about the way its mounted in the gun? if possible could you post some pics with a explination.

I would also like to have a better understanding also. I am wanting to possibly get a barrel re-sleeved if such a thing exists (pb’s I know but I don’t know about pellet rifles) It may be an apple and orange sort of thing, but still it might help.

Well that was my point. Typically the barrel steps down where it goes into the receiver and would be trued to bore center and if it were a free floating barrel nothing else need be done. In this case he felt the need to shave 1 side of the barrel to eliminate.009 additional pressure on 1 point in the o ring that is in the block where the shroud starts. Which in my opinion is bs as if he put the .009 to the bottom of the barrel it would help the barrel droop caused by a silencer. If you were to turn or grind that in it self can cause problems from hardening and or expanding the bore size from heat. I truely believe he just wanted to play with my gun for a couple weeks and never had any intention to machine the barrel.

As for a sleeve you might be able to bore a barrel and use a fx barrel in it but im not sure why you would want too. Ive talked to a few barrel machinist’s and it seems as if your better off sticking with factory barrels unless you find someone extremely passionate about producing a barrel for you that will do what you want.

I have a BSA meteor super 22. It could win a beauty contest, It just can’t win a shooting contest. The barrel is trash, but it’s such a nice looking rifle. I just wanted to find out if resleeving it was even a possibility. Thanks for explaining a little more. I’ve only had an air rifle for the past year and a half and seriously getting into this hobby the past six months.

If i were you i would push a pellet thru the barrel to try to find out what is wrong. Perhaps a change to a different diameter pellet woould change things for you?

Not about the Ghost slug barrels, but the conversation seems to have gone this direction....

Ive had multiple blanks machined for multiple airguns by three different machinists. All the rebarrel projects have had their own set of technical requirements, but were doable.

I'm not sure I understand the problem here. Rich is buying blanks and machining them for the Crosman platforms, with guys posting impressive accuracy. So he seems to have the capability and skillset.....Id really like to know what problems he foresaw with following through with the blank for @Solo1 's Ghost.

@Airgun Revisions, care to shed some light here?

I’m not biting

I'm not trying to stir you up, just curious what Rich has to say.

Does your blank have a much more off-center bore than he's used to seeing? Does he not have machines to do some required step? Or is he declining the project for some other reason?

Ok. Just got these pics from bob the fella that machined my barrel for the 👻. 10 shot group @ 50 yards and yes thats a dime!

Excellent results, now let's try 75 and 100!! Also send me one, forget BRK🤣. Was long bombing MRDs at about 110/120 yards on some starling swaying in the wind, 40 ft up in a tree. After a few shots I realized it wasn't happening. Thought I was superman after last nights 98Yard smash.....nope I'm back on earth again. ☹ Let us know some numbers sir when u get it back! Also...33gr Zan slugs?

Well im still slowly grinding away at the inside if this barrel. For supposedly not having a choke it sure feels like it has 1!!

Ya know this whole think really bugs me. Last night i went to 1 of my old favorite gun sites ( cool guy guns) just to check on something. And this is what he lists about his barrels
  • Aftermarket 10/22® fluted bull barrel
  • Lengths: 20", 18", 16.5"
  • Polished Stainless Steel
  • HAND LAPPED individually
  • 11-degree crown, 1:16 twist, convex extractor slot
  • 1/2" at 50 yards guarante
All this for a barrel that he sells for $287. Now i understand he is dealing with only 2 different 10-22 receivers but why can’t someone be doing something like this at least at the factory level for airguns?

I hear you man, Brk slug barrels are tantalizingly close🤤 The price will probably be big monies though...But I have no real other options! (Like pcp o-rings) it should be something out there that's not to hard to get or make but it definitely is a bit rare it seems.😔

Well im shelving this project for a bit as i can still out shoot my slug barrel with my pellet barrel! I have to get ready for upcoming hp ft matches so i must dial the gun for pellets.
