I have owned a Texan .308 carbine early on in my airgun career and on the day I was reminiscing about it with my boss, this .257 showed up on the classifieds on a competing forum 30 minutes later, I just took it as a sign. It was already equipped with the maddog rifle stock, the ultramatch trigger and the moderator adapter.

I ordered an external reg and arken from Tom at High Pressure Pneumatics and everything was in my hands a day later, the rifle showed up the day after, I hooked everything up saturday and shot some AVS Slug 85 gr boat tails at 975 fps, first group shown is figuring out the hold at 100 yards while also fine tuning my scope positioning, second group was , well, the second 4 shot group, I was going to go for 5 but I cherry picked it and left it at 4 for good reason.

Unfortunately after spending a large amount of time behind the Valdada Optics G2 Mini on my Paradigm I just couldnt appreciate the Arken, not that the Arken is a bad scope for the money but it isn't teir 1 glass like the valdada. So I was scouring the interwebs and found this Valdada G2 Recon (the big brother to my G2 Mini) with Audere Italian KONG rings, level, and scope cap and set it up on the texan last night.

I plan to do some very long range shooting with this setup, 2, 3, and 400 yards this weekend hopefully to practice to push it 6 , 7, and 800 yards with a goal of further by the end of 2024.

Took the texan out on very limited air to zero the recon g2

It is so wild how slugs tear the paper different than pellets will.

From afar this 5 shot group looks bad however it is sub .75 moa20231014_150612.jpg

The next group is 5 shots , sub .3 moa id say20231014_150446.jpg

This texan is disgustingly awesome, I still am playing with pressures and power wheel but both the .3 moa was at this setting however I feel like I should have come out with full tanks. Either way I got it zero.

That's some serious power and a work of art! Very accurate.
