Self-Loading 30 cal

Yup, I have one waiting in the safe right now to be setup and dialed in.
I have the 357 as well and that’s what I am working on getting setup and figured out at the moment.
Looking forward to following along on this thread.
Think there is a little bit about the .30 Rattler in some of Dana Webbs videos under “Hunting”. He goes by MountainSportAirguns.
Oh and congratulations on your first PCP…and welcome to the forum.
Pics are from the 30 rattler with 44.75g Hades

I'd really like to try one of these out, but I fear as a lefty shooter the mag might act as a cheese grater / whisker puller.

There's some threads out there on other forums about them if you do a search. I've read they are slug picky but don't have first hand experience to confirm.

Hello Ham.

Yes the Rattler in 30 cal will shoot slugs well. It is a matter of trial and testing. Western uses a TJ hammer forged barrel in the Rattler. TJ barrels require a good polish and deep cleaning to achieve fine accuracy especially when new. When properly cleaned and seasoned the 30 calibers seem to prefer the mid weight slugs. 48 or so grains if my memory serves. The 80 grain High Arc hunters also show promise. In the near future Western will be offering plug and play barrels of different twist rates and profiles. We are being told they will be the highest quality ever to be offered for airgun use. We will wait with excitement for this to come to pass.

Great news @AOA ROB!

Looking forward to a very high quality barrel option.

Hello AOA ROB. Could you give us an idea of what would be the definition of the "near future" in this context? Thanks Mike

I see fortunately more companies are offering left-handed magazines for those of us who use the superior hand for shooting.

The mag is in the center. Since it is semi/full auto, No difference for left or right shooter. I was rt handed shooter, but lost my right eye and I am now a lt shooter. No problem with the rattler

Good to know, but not sure if I should thank you or not. :D My wallet may be hurting with desire for a 357 Rattler - although I literally have no need.......

Hello

Our oem single point cut rifle barrels for the Western rifles are being machined at this time. We expect end of month for barrels in hand from SUB MOA. Delays seem to be normal and expected.

I was a right handed shooter until I lost my right eye. I shoot this rifle with no problem. You are not cocking anything so left or right makes no difference. Sorry about the delay.
